Formula E: Chakat Lightingblaze suffers rare fuel pump issues at Surfers Paradise; Aaron John-Steel wins SCRLASTCAR Championship

Chakat Lightingblaze picked up the 1st last place finish of hir SCRL Formula E Series Presented by Twitter career in Sunday's Surfers ePrix at Surfers Paradise when hir #77 Lucas Oil / Protect the Harvest fell out with fuel pump problems after completing 4 of the 6 laps.

The finish came in hir 12th career start. In the SCRL Formula E Series, it's the 1st for car #77 and the 1st for fuel pump issues. Across all the series in the SCRL, it's the 6th for the #77 and the 2nd for fuel pump issues.

Lightingblaze, the daughter of Blaise Zebrataur and 6 time SCRL Champion and all time race winner Chakat Whitelion, decided to follow in hir parents hoof/paw steps and begin a career in racing, signing up to compete in Season 1 of the SCRL Sun Energy Whelen Euro Elite 2 division, where shi would win in hir first two starts at Red Bull Ring and Monaco, before choosing to focus on hir school work, choosing to skip a few series before a break in school gave hir free time to compete in the SCRL's second highest Formula division. Lightingblaze finished 13th in hir FE debut at Adelaide, 5th at Shanghai, 19th at Vancouver, 13th at Monaco, 8th at Toronto, 20th at Long Beach, 6th at Mexico City, 14th in the first ever SCRL event held in the rain at Watkins Glen, 9th at Montreal, 6th at Suzuka before finishing 13th in the last round at St. Petersburg.

Entering the season finale, 8 drivers have a mathematical chance of winning the SCRLASTCAR Championship; Aaron John-Steel, Sammy Sabre Jr., Danyal Gitirokh, Kerri Love, Anthony Stewart, Gregg Speed, Jeff Cornils and Nick Productions. If Steel or Sabre Jr. finished last, they would win the championship out right, if any of the other six drivers finish last they could win the championship. If any driver driver finished last, Steel could lock up the championship as long as Sabre Jr. doesn't finish in the Bottom Five with Sabre Jr. having more Bottom Ten finishes to break the tiebreaker.

On race day, Lightingblaze rolled off starting 14th while starting in the final spot was the #12 Verizon of Karl-Jong Bensson, a postion that he would hold for only three turns before knocking the #9 Target of Mikali Kose into the final spot, a position she would hold for the first lap before she passed the #8 NTT Data / TNT Energy Drink of Eli Bright into the final spot. Bright would struggle around the 2.800 mile road course for the next few laps until the lone caution came out that would end the race under caution. As the field was catching back up to the pace car, Lightingblaze's car began to slow as shi pulled onto pit road and into the paddock. The team would look over the car and found that the problem was a fuel pump issue, and with the race going to end under caution, the team retired the car as the field took the white flag.

The remaining Bottom Five would finish on the same lap as the race leaders: 21st was Montreal last-place finisher the #63 Susan G. Komen Foundation of Kerri Love, 20th was the #16 Mi-Jack of Nick Speed, 19th was the aforementioned #9 of Mikali Kose and 18th for the second race in a row was the #98 Integrity Energee Drink of Joshua Rush.

The SCRLASTCAR Championship was decided when the checkered flag waved as with Lightingblaze finishing last and Sabre Jr. finishing outside the Bottom Five, Aaron John-Steel locked up the championship on the strength of two last-place finishes, at Mexico City and Watkins Glen, his first ever SCRLASTCAR title.

The Season 2 SCRL Formula E Series Presented by Twitter Championship went to Karl-Jong Bensson. Making his SCRL debut in this series, Benson impressed in his first ever race, finishing runner up to Gregg Speed at Adelaide. It wouldn't be until Bensson's 8th start that he would score his first win, coming in the league's first ever event held in the rain at Watkins Glen, and scoring his second win at Suzuka just two races later. Bensson scored no last-place finishes in his championship season, his worse finish being a 21st at Vancouver.

Formula 2: Tracey Dent's off camera crash places her last in season finale at Adelaide; Eddie Wycombe wins SCRLASTCAR Championship

Tracey Dent picked up the 2nd last place finish of her SCRL Formula 2 Series career in Round 16 at the Adelaide Street Circuit when her #8 Scuderia Ferrari Marlboro was involved in a two-car crash after 3 of the 8 laps.

The finish, which came in her 16th career start, was her first on the circuit since Round 12 at the Circuit de Nevers - Magny-Cours when she was involved in a single-car crash without completing any of the 8 laps, 4 races ago. In the SCRL Formula 2 Series, it's the 2nd for car #8 and the 5th from a crash. Across all the series in the SCRL, it's the 18th for the #8 and the 245th where the car was still running.

After trailing for the first time in her career, Tracey rebounded with a 5th and 7th at Kyalami before finishing a disappointing 17th in the previous round at Adelaide.

On race day, Tracey rolled off starting 17th while starting in the final position was based on Formula 2 rules was first Adelaide last-place finisher the #9 AT&T Williams of Celious Wolf. Wolf would get a slow start as he would trail for the first five turns before passing Tracey, who had went off track before getting back on behind the #24 Marussia F1 Team of Marko Tellez. As the field entered Turn 1, two time last-place finisher the #4 Mercedes GP Petronas F1 Team of Jason Larker, who was running in 13th, spun out in front of the field as the #18 Lotus F1 Racing of Chakat Whitelion got into Pearson's car a little bit before Tracey made her way to the turn and misjudged were Pearson was going and slammed into his car, with Pearson driving away while Tracey's car remained stalled on track and would be pushed off track, her season over.

Formula 2: Mid race spin places rookie Celious Wolf last at Adelaide; SCRLASTCAR battle set for season finale

Celious Wolf picked up the 1st last place finish of his SCRL Formula 2 Series career in Friday's Round 15 at the Adelaide Street Circuit when his #9 AT&T Williams completed all 8 laps under power.

The finish came in his 15th career start. In the SCRL Formula 2 Series, it's the 1st for car #9 and the 10th where the car was still running. Across all the series in the SCRL, it's the 6th for the #9 and the 230th where the car was still running.

Wolf was one of several drivers making their SCRL debuts by competing in the Formula 2 division of the SCRL but wasn't new to the racing scene, having competed in the ISCR's Formula B Series, finishing 22nd in points. Wolf finished 13th and 10th at Silverstone, 4th and 11th at Spa, 12th and 9th at Hungaroring, 7th in the first Catalunya before scoring his first career SCRL win in Catalunya's second event. Wolf's momentum would be short lived as he would finish 14th and 19th at Donington Park, 17th and 3rd at Magny-Cours, 16th and 10th in the last round at Kyalami.

On race day, Wolf rolled off starting 20th while starting in the final position was the #24 Marussia F1 Team of Marko Tellez, a position that Tellez would hold for the first four laps straight, but the very next lap, Wolf would lose control of his car and spin out briefly on track, while no caution would fly, he would be passed by Tellez. Over the next three laps, Wolf cut the distance between himself and Tellez from three seconds to half a second by the time the white flag waved, but ran out of time, with Wolf being scored last.

The remaining Bottom Five were: 20th the aforementioned #24 of Marko Tellez, 19th was two time last-place finisher the #12 Renault F1 Team of Bafode Sacko, 18th was the #1 Vodafone McLaren Mercedes of Mike Pearson and 17th was second Magny-Cours last-place finisher the #8 Scuderia Ferrari Marlboro of Tracey Dent.

Heading into the season finale to also be held at Adelaide, the battle for the SCRLASTCAR Championship will come down between three drivers: Eddie Wycombe, Jason Larker and Bafode Sacko. Entering the season finale, Wycombe has a one last-place finish lead over both Larker and Sacko, and if he finished last he would win the championship out right, if anyone but Larker or Sacko finish last, Wycombe would win the championship as well. In order for Larker to win the championship, he would have to finish last, and if Wycombe finished in the Bottom Five, Larker would win the tie breaker of Bottom Tens(9-6). Sacko is the furthest away from the championship, with him needing to finish last and for Wycombe to not finish on the Bottom Five or Ten in order to have a shot.

Damian Blue picked up the 3rd last place finish of his SCRL Formula 3 Series career in Round 16 at the Red Bull Ring when his #97 Advance Auto Parts completed all 8 laps under power.

The finish, which came in his 16th career start, was his first on the circuit since the Round 7 at Hungaroring when he fell out with engine problems after completing 6 of the 10 laps, 10 races ago. In the SCRL Formula 3 Series, it's the 3rd for car #97 and the 9th where the car was still running. Across all the series in the SCRL, it's the 4th for the #97 and the 229th where the car was still running.

After engine failure ended his race at Hungaoring, Blue rebounded with 4th and 16th at Kyalami, 9th and 14th at Monza, 16th and 17th at Monaco before finishing runner up to Toma Lakatos.

Entering the season finale, six drivers have a mathematical chance of winning the SCRLASTCAR Championship; Carter Joey, Damian Blue, Simon Fox, Zachary Billson, Elliott Rose and Jacob Rose can all win the championship if either finished last on the day, but if none of them finish last, Carter Joey would be given the championship on the strength of a tie breaker.

On race day, Blue rolled off starting 21st while starting in the final spot was two time last-place finisher the #10 Target of Laura Delano, a position that Delano would hold on for the first three laps when Delano was finally able to make a move, passing Blue in Turn 4, with Blue taking the last spot on Lap 4. As much as Blue tried to gain a spot over the last half of the race, due to tough passing places on the five mile track, Blue was unable to, and by virtue of finishing last, Blue won the SCRLASTCAR Championship.

Formula 3: Late race crash causes Laura Delano to lose a tire and score the first last place finish of her career; SCRLASTCAR Championship battle set for Red Bull Ring finale

Laura Delano picked up the 1st last place finish of her SCRL Formula 3 Series career in Round 15 at the Red Bull Ring when her #10 Target was involved in a two-car crash after 5 of the 8 laps.

The finish came in her 14th career start. In the SCRL Formula 3 Series, it's the 1st for car #10 and the 5th from a crash. Across all the series in the SCRL, it's the 19th for the #10 and the 244th from a crash.

A 14th and a 9th at Silverstone would be followed with a series best 3rd in the first Hockenheimring before finishing 17th in the second event. A 17th and 7th at Hungaoring, 21st in the first event before scoring a runner up finish at Kyalami. A 4th and a 12th at Monza, before scoring her second runner up first in the first round at Monaco before finishing 22nd in the last round.

On race day, Delano rolled off starting in the final spot a position that she would hold for the first three laps before knocking two time last-place finisher the #2 IZOD of Carter Joey to last on Lap 4. Joey's stay in the final spot would only last one lap as the very next lap second Monza last-place finisher the #4 National Guard of Brandon Brown, who was running in 14th, lost control of his car going into Turn 4 and slammed into the guard rail, sending his car back out onto the track. While the #9 Target of Christian Russell was able to avoid Brown, Delano wasn't as lucky as she slammed into him with enough force that it detached the left front wheel of her car, sending it up into the air and nearly landing in the grandstand that was nearby. Delano was able to limp back around to pit road and into the garage, done for the day, the only car to not finish on the lead lap.

The remaining Bottom Five were: 22nd was the aforementioned #2 of Carter Joey, 21st was the #4 of Brandon Brown, 20th was second Silverstone last-place finisher the #21 Exide Batteries of Simon Fox and 19th was second Hungaroring last-place finisher the #7 McAfee / Bing of Jacob Rose.

Richard would take the final spot for the first time on Lap 5 as he struggled with suspension damage, but would fight back to knock the #8 Haas F1 Team of Joseph Huffman into last on Lap 7, but his stay in the final spot would be brief, knocking Richard back to last on Lap 9. Richard would try to gain another spot over the last two laps but the suspension damage had taken it's toll on the car, preventing him from keeping up, falling 18 seconds behind the race leaders by the time the checkered flag waved.

Throwback BUSCH: Dinkdrinker's late tire problems nets him first last-place finish in the busch series first event at South Boston

Dinkdrinker picked up the 1st last place finish of his SCRL Wrangler Jeans Busch Grand National Series career in the Season 1 Busch 200 at the South Boston Speedway when his #00 Thomas Brothers Country Ham Oldsmobile fell out with tire problems after completing 20 of the 30 laps.

The finish came in his 7th start.

Entering Season 1 of the Busch Series, Dinkdrinker had tasted success in the SCRL NASCAR Legends Series and was looking to continue it in the SCRL's second highest division. A early wreck at Daytona placed Dink 36th at Daytona, 14th at Richmond, 24th at Bristol, a series best 2nd at Martinsville, 36th at Darlington and finishing 25th in the last round at Hickory.

Dinkdrinker would roll off the starting grid 31st while the #22 unsponsored Pontiac of Marcus Saatchi started last. Cloudy conditions made for a slick track, but no cautions would fly as the battle for positions happened almost every single lap while not a single caution would come out. By Lap 19, Dink had moved up to 15th and was looking to improve when his car suddenly began to slow down the backstretch, coasting around the track, crossing the start/finish line by the inside wall before pulling onto pit road at the entrance of Turn 2 before pulling into the garage, the team reporting that tire problems was the cause, Dinkdrinker's day done just ten laps short of the finish.

No caution would come out as Stewart would be in the final spot for the first two laps until the #67 Hartman Oil of Blaise Zebrataur made an unscheduled pit stop for a flat left rear tire. Zebrataur's stay in the final spot would last for two laps as well until the battle for last ended suddenly two laps later.

While running in 8th, Sabre Jr. had gained ten spots and was looking to finish in points for the fifth time in his career, but it was ended while racing for several laps side by side with Long Beach last-place finisher the #15 National Guard of Nick Productions, the two cars made contact, which sent Sabre Jr. off track and slammed into the wall with enough force that Sabre Jr. was unable to limp back to the paddock, with the driver climbing from his car and walking to the infield care center to be checked out while the car was left in the gravel trap not taking the final spot until Lap 6 when Blaise passed by.

Finishing 21st was Montreal last-place finisher the #63 Susan G. Komen Foundation of Kerri Love, who also found her own trouble at that same turn that Sabre Jr. had crashed in, but she however was able to limp back to the paddock and after a brief looking over by her Dale Coyne racing team, the car was listed as "off" on the racing graphics by the 9th lap.

The remaining Bottom Five would finish on the same lap as the race leaders: 20th was the aforementioned #67 of Blaise Zebrataur, 19th was the #28 of Anthony Stewart and 18th was the #18 Cafe de Colombia of Jay Jefferson.

With two races to go, Sabre Jr. is now tied with Aaron John-Steel with two last-place finishes a piece with the championship still wide open to the point that any driver could still lock up the championship and it could come down to the season finale at Surfers Paradise.

Formula 1: Piston problems prevents Trevor Collins from completing a lap at Estoril; takes lead in SCRLASTCAR title fight with three races to go

Trevor Collins picked up the 2nd last place finish of his SCRL Red Bull Formula One Series career in the Season 2 Grand Prix of Portugal at the Autódromo do Estoril when his #22 McLaren-Honda F1 Team fell out with piston problems without completing any of the 7 laps.

The finish, which came in his 16th career start, was his first on the circuit since the Grand Prix of Italy at the Autodromo Nazionale di Monza when he fell out with gearbox problems without completing any of the 7 laps, 10 races ago. In the SCRL Red Bull Formula One Series, it's the 5th for car #22 and the 3rd for piston issues. Across all the series in the SCRL, it's the 14th for the #22 and the 9th for piston issues.

After not completing a lap at Monza, Collins bounced back with a 6th place finish at Shanghai, 18th at Monaco and Silverstone, 15th at Magny-Cours, 20th at Spa, 8th at Yas Marina, 18th at COTA, 20th at Hungaroring and in the last round at Red Bull Ring.

On race day, Collins was scheduled to roll off starting in the 4th spot while starting in the final spot was the #44 Mercedes AMG Petronas F1 Team of Steve Larker, but just as the field began to roll, Collins's car remained stalled on the track, before forced to be towed back to the pits as the field finished their formation lap. As the field took the green flag, the Mercedes team took the car into the paddock to see what the problem was, it wouldn't be until the second lap that the crew had found the problem; the piston had broken and with the amount of time it would take to fix it, it wouldn't be done in time to get back on track, so the car was officially listed as "out" on the 4th circuit.

The remaining Bottom Five would finish on the same lap as the race leaders: 21st was the #20 Renault Sport F1 Team of Ty Dent, 20th was the #8 Haas F1 Team of Joseph Huffman, 19th was the #77 Williams Martini Racing of Bryson Hill and 18th was the #9 Sauber F1 Team of Carter Friesen.

Formula E: Late race spin at Montreal gives Kerri Love the first last-place finish of her career

Kerri Love picked up the 1st last place finish of her SCRL Formula E Series Presented by Twitter career in Friday's Montreal ePrix at Circuit Gilles Villeneuve when her #63 Susan G. Komen Foundation completed all 8 laps under power.

The finish came in her 9th career start. In the SCRL Formula E Series, it's the 1st for car #63 and the 6th where the car was still running. Across all the series in the SCRL, it's the 6th for the #63 and the 226th where the car was still running.

Love was one of a few rookies that had never competed in a SCRL race before signing up to compete full time in the SCRL's second highest formula division; the SCRL Formula E Series Presented by Twitter. With the series entering it's second season, Love was just hoping to complete as many laps as possible and learn experience to one day compete in the SCRL Red Bull Formula One Series. Love made her debut in the series first ever event at Adelaide, where she started 10th and would work her way up through the field and finished an impressive 6th. A finish of 11th at Shanghai would be followed up with her first career Top 5 in just her 3rd start; a 5th at Vancouver. In her 4th career start she would struggle for the first time in her career with a 19th at Monaco and a 17th at Toronto. In the very next round, Love started on pole and led all 8 laps to score her first career win at Long Beach. After scoring her first career win, Love would struggle in the next round, a 15th at Mexico City before battling all race long in the Top 5 before finishing 3rd in the last round in the first ever SCRL race held in the rain at Watkins Glen.

On race day, Love rolled off starting 14th while starting in the final spot was the #9 Target of Mikali Kose, a position that Kose would hold for the first lap, before making a move in Turn 1, knocking Vancouver last-place finisher the #3 Pennzoil Ultra Platinum of Danyal Gitirokh into the last spot. Gitirokh would remain in the last spot for the next three laps and was trailing the field on Lap 5 when Love, who had fallen back to 19th at this point, wheel hopped entering Turn 7, sending Love's car for a spin, sliding off track and making slight contact with the wall. As the rest of the field roared past, Love put her car back into gear and rejoined the race, with no caution coming out, her only hope was for another driver to have problems but it didn't happen, with Love crossing the start/finish line 41 second behind the race winner AJ Jones, and seven seconds behind 21st place finisher Gitirokh.

Rounding out the Bottom Five were: 20th was the #20 Fuzzy's Vodka of TJ Dent, 19th was the #12 Verizon of Karl-Jong Bensson and 18th was Monaco last-place finisher the #17 Automatic Fire Sprinklers of Gregg Speed.

Throwback CUP: Late race crash gives Zach Houseknecht first career last-place finish at North Wilkesboro

Zach Houseknecht picked up the 1st last place finish of his SCRL Strictly Stock Series career in the Season 1 Wilkes 200 at the North Wilkesboro Speedway when his #108 unsponsored Oldsmobile was involved in a two-car accident after he completed 34 of the 40 laps.

The finish came in his 7th start. Zach Houseknecht was one of 42 drivers who entered Season 1 of the brand new SCRL Cup Series and was looking to make a name for himself. In his first start for the series, Houseknecht started 5th and finished 10th at Charlotte, a finish he would repeat two races later at Occoneechee. In the very next race at Langhorne, Houseknecht finished a career best 4th, and in the last round at Heidelberg, Houseknecht finished 37th, his worse finish to date.

On race day, Houseknecht rolled off 32nd spot while the #58 unsponsored Ford of Gabryel Wanderley would start last for the second race in a row. The battle up front for the lead wouldn't be found as not a single lead change would happen, while almost every other spot changed during the race. By Lap 34, Houseknecht was spun out on the backstretch as the #5 Oldsmobile of Brian Fox had no where to go and slammed hard into the driver's door, sending Houseknecht for a wild tumble down the backstretch, before coming to stop on his roof just short of the pit road entrance. Houseknecht was able to climb from his car, amazingly unhurt, but both his car and Fox's were done for the day, the only two cars to not finish the race.

Finishing 41st was the #77 Oldsmobile of Rodriguez Zapatos, the only other driver to not finish on the lead lap, having lost two laps due to tire problems. Rounding out the Bottom Five were drivers who finished on the same lap as the race leaders: 40th was the #46 of Rubens Wanderley, 39th the aforementioned #58 of Gabryel Wanderley and finishing 38th was Charlotte last-place finisher the #13 unsponsored Ford of Eli Bright, who was the first driver to fail to complete a lap.

Formula 1: Marcus Saatchi trails flag to flag in caution free race at Red Bull Ring

Marcus Saatchi picked up the 1st last place finish of his SCRL Red Bull Formula One Series career in the Season 2 Grand Prix of Austria at the Red Bull Ring when his #3 Red Bull Racing completed all 6 laps under power.

The finish came in his 15th career start. In the SCRL Red Bull Formula One Series, it's the 1st for car #3 and the 12th where the car was still running. Across all the series in the SCRL, it's the 16th for the #3 and the 225th where the car was still running. Entering Season 2 of the Formula One Series, Saatchi had already found success in the SCRL, having visited victory lane three previous times in his career, and nearly won the Season 2 SCRL Rainbow Dash Truck Series Championship before being caught up in a late race crash. Saatchi finished 7th in his F1 debut at the wreckfest Melbourne and followed it up by finishing runner up to Tony Newman at Bahrain. A 6th at Hockenheimring, 8th at Zandvoort, 9th at CTMP, and a 9th at Monza before scoring his first finish outside the Top 10, a 16th at Shanghai. A 17th at Monaco, a 21st at Silverstone, 19th at Magny-Cours before finishing 14th at Spa. In the next round at Yas Marina, Saatchi would get a great jump as Gordon Schmidt held off Richard Torres for the first few turns to allow Saatchi to pull away quickly and would go on to win in a controversial win by way of team orders, the 4th win of his career. A 14th in the next round at the Circuit of the Americas would be followed with a 12th place finish in the last round at Hungaroring.

On race day, Saatchi rolled off starting in the 21st spot while starting in the final spot was two-time last-place finisher the #94 Sahara Force India F1 Team of Jack Hallec, but shortly after the field took the green flag, Hallec made a move on Saatchi in Turn 1 and pulled away from Saatchi. For the first time in league and series history, drivers raced in the rain, leading to many drivers taking it easy to understand how the track acted, but within the last few laps they stepped it up for the fans in attendance, with Rush making a move and knocking John-Steel back into the final spot with two laps to go, and as hard as he tried to regain the spot, Steel was unable to, finishing last for the second race in a row.

As the field entered the final turn to get the green flag, second place starter the #24 Marussia F1 Team of Marko Tellez pulled into the pits as the green flag waved the driver reporting of a flat tire, pulling into his pit stall, with the team quickly changing all four tires and sent their driver back out onto the track. Tellez at this point was ten seconds behind Sacko as each lap, Tellez cut into Sacko's margin by virtue of having fresher tires and it wasn't until entering Turn 1 on the final lap that not only did Tellez catch Sacko, but passed him, knocking Sacko back to the final spot, giving Sacko his second straight last-place finish of the season.

At this point in the race, Sacko had moved up to 13th spot as he was battling the #15 Force India F1 Team of Chakat Duskwatcher as the two drivers entered Turn 1, Duskwatcher misjudged and slammed into Sacko, sending him for a spin into the tire barrier in Turn 1, destroying Sacko's car, forcing Sacko to be towed back to the garage, done for the day, taking the final spot that same lap.
