Formula 3: Carter Joey becomes the first driver to sweep a race weekend as he crashes out at Monaco

Carter Joey picked up the 2nd last place finish of his SCRL Formula 3 Series career in Round 14 at the Circuit de Monaco when his #2 IZOD was involved in a single-car crash without completing any of the 8 laps.

The finish, which came in his 14th career start, was his first on the circuit since Round 13 at Circuit de Monaco where he also completed none of the 8 laps due to a multi-car crash, 1 race ago. In the SCRL Formula 3 Series, it's the 2nd for car #2 and the 4th from a crash. Across all the series in the SCRL, it's the 13th for the #2 and the 240th from a crash. After crashing out at Monaco in the last round and becoming only the second driver in series history to fail to complete a lap, Joey was looking for redemption in the event's second event.

On race day, Joey rolled off starting in the final spot due to Formula 3 rules and it would be a place that Joey would hold for only a couple seconds as the #33 Shell V-Power / Pennzoil Ultra of Mitchell Collins made an unscheduled pit stop due to a flat tire, and had the team not repaired it, it would be Collins's first last-place finish of the season. The however was able to send Collins back out on the track and he would go on to round out the Bottom Five in 19. Joey on the other hand would make it through the first 13 turns and when he came up on the same spot he was crashed out in the first event, Joey's car wheel hopped and he spun out, hitting the tire barrier with the left side of the car, bringing out the first caution of the day and being towed back to the garage, became the first driver to finish last in both events in one weekend.

Finishing 22nd was the #10 Target of Laura Delano, who would have a bout with the dangerous Turn 14 wall just three laps later and would be knocked out of the race, the last driver to not finish under power.

The remaining Bottom Five would finish on the same lap as the race leaders: 21st was the #11 GEICO / Mouser Electronics of Nathan Ormond, 20th was the #28 DHL / Sun Drop Citrus Soda of Zachary Billson and 19th was the aforementioned #33 of Mitchell Collins.
