Formula 2: Bafode Sacko sweeps Kyalami; becomes first driver to finish last in back-to-back races

Bafode Sacko picked up the 2nd last place finish of her SCRL Formula 2 Series career in Round 14 at Kyalami Circuit when his #12 Renault F1 Team completed all 11 laps under power.

The finish, which came in his 14th career start, was his first on the circuit since Round 13 at Kyalami Circuit where was involved in a single-car crash after 3 of the 11 laps, 1 race ago. In the SCRL Formula 2 Series, it's the 2nd for car #12 and the 9th where the car was still running. Across all the series in the SCRL, it's the 8th for the #12 and the 223rd where the car was still running.

Marko Tellez pulls onto pit road.
On race day, Sacko rolled off starting in the final position due to Formula 2 rules if a driver is knocked out of the first race, they would start last. As the field entered the final turn to get the green flag, second place starter the #24 Marussia F1 Team of Marko Tellez pulled into the pits as the green flag waved the driver reporting of a flat tire, pulling into his pit stall, with the team quickly changing all four tires and sent their driver back out onto the track. Tellez at this point was ten seconds behind Sacko as each lap, Tellez cut into Sacko's margin by virtue of having fresher tires and it wasn't until entering Turn 1 on the final lap that not only did Tellez catch Sacko, but passed him, knocking Sacko back to the final spot, giving Sacko his second straight last-place finish of the season.

The remaining Bottom Five were: 20th the aforementioned #24 of Marko Tellez, 19th was the #5 Scuderia Ferrari of Greg Lee, 18th was second Hungaroring last-place finisher the #22 BMW Sauber F1 Team of Daniel Price and 17th was first Magny-Cours last-place finisher the #17 Scuderia Toro Rosso of Zachary Fitzwater Jr.
