Formula 2: Leonard Pearson becomes the first driver to trail a Formula 2 event in caution free race at Silverstone

Leonard Pearson picked up the 1st last place finish of his SCRL Formula 2 Series career in Round 1 at the Silverstone Circuit when his #2 Vodafone McLaren Mercedes completed all 5 laps under power.

The finish came in his 1st career start. In the SCRL Formula 2 Series, it's the 1st for car #2 and the 1st where the car was still running. Across all the series in the SCRL, it's the 11th for the #2 and the 202nd where the car was still running. With the creation of the Formula 2 division to be used for those working their way up in the SCRL, Pearson was one of 11 rookies that were making their first ever appearances in the SCRL by driving in the third highest Formula series.

On race day, Pearson would roll off starting 12 while starting last was the #18 Lotus F1 Racing of six time SCRL Champion and all-time race winner Chakat Whitelion. Whitelion was determined to not trail in the first ever race in series history, and by the time the field had entered Turn 10, shi had knocked the Mercedes GP Petronas F1 Team #3 of Jack Canaramo into the final spot, Whitelion would go on to finish 14th. Canaramo would remain in the final spot for two laps before he knocked Pearson down to last on Lap 3. Pearson would try his hardest to gain any spots over the final two laps but was unable to and finished nearly fifteen seconds behind the race leader.

Rounding out the Bottom Five were: 19th the aforementioned #3 of Jack Canaramo, 18th was the #8 Marlboro Scuderia Ferrari of Tracey Dent, 17th was the #5 Red Bull Racing of Greg Lee and 16th was the #15 Force India F1 Team of Chakat Duskwatcher.
