Formula E: Gregg Speed's early crash at Monaco proves to be a long day for the Speed brothers; TJ Dent returns to victory lane for the first time in four years

Gregg Speed picked up the 1st last place finish of his SCRL Formula E Series Presented by Twitter career in the Season 2 Monaco ePrix at the Circuit de Monaco when his #17 Automatic Fire Sprinklers was involved in a single-car crash after 2 of the 8 laps.

The finish came in his 4th career start. In the SCRL Formula E Series, it's the 1st for car #17 and the 6th from a crash. Across all the series in the SCRL, it's the 8th for the #17 and the 231st from a crash. Gregg and his brother Nick were two of the nine rookies that made up the 22 car field that were looking to make names for themselves in the SCRL's second highest formula division and both would impress early on with Greg winning in his first start at Adelaide while Nick would score his first win the very next week at Shanghai before Gregg would finish 7th in the last round at Vancouver.

On race day, Gregg rolled off 10th while starting in the final spot was Adelaide last-place finisher the #28 DHL of Anthony Stewart, a position that Stewart would hold up until Turn 5 when he knocked the #15 National Guard of Nick Productions into the final spot, a position that Productions would hold for the first lap and then through Turn 14 when the battle for last ended. Gregg had worked his way into the 8th spot when entering Turn 14, Gregg's car wheel hopped, causing the car to spin out and hit the tire barrier with the driver's side of the car, ending his day after two laps.

Finishing 21st just four laps later was Gregg's brother, the #16 Mi-Jack of Nick Speed, who would also have a tangle with the Turn 14 wall, ending his day and completing a sweep of the Bottom Two for the Speed family.

Rounding out the Bottom Five were drivers who finished on the same lap as the race leaders: 20th was the #41 ABC Supply Co. of AJ Jones, 19th was the #63 Susan G. Komen Foundation of Kerri Love and finishing 18th was the aforementioned #15 of Nick Productions.

The victory went to TJ Dent, who last visited victory lane in the now discontinued ONL Classic Truck Series at Charlotte on October 7, 2015. Dent had been completing on a part-time bias over the last few years before him and his brother Ty came back to complete full time in Season 4 of the SCRL NASCAR Legend Series. Ty would chose to compete in the SCRL Red Bull Formula One Series where he would also break his losing steak of five years, winning back-to-back races at CTMP and Zandvoort.
