Formula 2: Contact with Chakat Duskwatcher on Lap 3 at Kyalami gives Bafode Sacko the second last-place finish of his career

Bafode Sacko picked up the 1st last place finish of her SCRL Formula 2 Series career in Round 13 at Kyalami Circuit when his #12 Renault F1 Team was involved in a single-car crash after 3 of the 11 laps.

The finish came in his 13th career start. In the SCRL Formula 2 Series, it's the 1st for car #12 and the 4th from a crash. Across all the series in the SCRL, it's the 7th for the #12 and the 241st from a crash. Entering the SCRL's newest division, Sacko had been competing in several SCRL sanctioned series, but had yet to visit victory lane and was looking to erase the goose egg from his stats. In his F2 debut, Sacko finished 6th in both rounds at Silverstone, before finishing 8th and 5th at Spa, 3rd and 12th at Hungaroring, 5th and 7th at Catalunya, 12th and 8th at Donington before finishing 2nd and 16th in the last round at Magny-Cours.

On race day, Sacko rolled off starting 17th while starting last was the #1 Vodafone McLaren Mercedes of Mike Pearson a position he wouldn't hold for long as he knocked first Magny-Cours last-place finisher the #17 Scuderia Toro Rosso of Zachary Fitzwater Jr. into the final spot as Fitzwater Jr. would trail for the first lap, but by the time the field got to Turn 3, he had knocked second Silverstone last-place finisher the #6 Red Bull Racing of Mark Owens into the final spot as he would trail for Lap 2. At this point in the race, Sacko had moved up to 13th spot as he was battling the #15 Force India F1 Team of Chakat Duskwatcher as the two drivers entered Turn 1, Duskwatcher misjudged and slammed into Sacko, sending him for a spin into the tire barrier in Turn 1, destroying Sacko's car, forcing Sacko to be towed back to the garage, done for the day, taking the final spot that same lap.

The remaining Bottom Five would finish on the same lap as the race leaders: 20th was first Silverstone last-place finisher the #2 Vodafone McLaren Mercedes of Leonard Pearson, 19th was the #16 Scuderia Toro Rosso of Hennrietta Fitzwater, 18th was the aforementioned #6 of Mark Owens and 17th was the #1 of Mike Pearson.

SCRLASTCAR STATISTICS
*This was the first time the #12 had finished last in a Formula 2 race as well at Kyalami.
*This marked only the second time in his career Sacko has trailed a SCRL race; the only other time was in Season 1 of the SCRL Icebreakers Whelen Series career in the Whitcomb / Granite State 85 at the Twin State Speedway when his #48 A-Best Forklift Chevrolet fell out with tire problems after completing 8 of the 20 laps.
