Formula 1: Blown engine at Shanghai gives Trey Wright the first last-place finish of his SCRL career

Trey Wright picked up the 1st last place finish of his SCRL Red Bull Formula One Series career in the Season 2 Chinese Grand Prix at the Shanghai International Circuit when his #11 Sahara Force India F1 Team fell out with engine problems after completing 2 of the 6 laps.

The finish came in his 7th career start.

In the SCRL Red Bull Formula One Series, it's the 1st for car #11 and the 1st for engine issues. Across all the series in the SCRL, it's the 11th for the #11 and the 46th for engine issues. Entering the second season of the Formula One Series, Wright had found success before in the SCRL, scoring one career win, in the SCRL Tim Hortons Canadian Series, at Delaware, but had never competed in the F1 Series. Wright's F1 career started off on a high note, winning in his debut at Melbourne, 17th at Bahrain, 4th at Hockenheimring, 7th at Zandvoort, 21st at CTMP before finishing 4th in the last round at Monza.

On race day, Wright rolled off starting 12th while starting in the final spot was the #3 Red Bull Racing of Marcus Saatchi, a spot that Saatchi would hold for the first lap before knocking back two time last-place finisher the #21 Haas F1 Team of Tony Newman into last on Lap 2, as Newman would trail for two laps when Wright, who was running 13th when entering the final turn he pulled into the pit road as the team looked over the car and discovered the engine had blown, ending Wright's day and taking last on Lap 4.

Rounding out the Bottom Five would finish on the same lap as the race leaders: 21st was the aforementioned #21 of Tony Newman, 20th was Newman's teammate the #8 Haas F1 Team of Joseph Huffman, 19th was the #14 McLaren-Honda F1 Team of Rodger McLaughlin and 18th was the #33 Scuderia Toro Rosso of Gordon Schmidt.
