Formula 3: Crash on pace lap at Silverstone prevents Simon Fox from completing a lap

Simon Fox picked up the 1st last place finish of his SCRL Formula 3 Series career in Round 4 at the Silverstone Circuit when his #21 Exide Batteries was involved in a multi-car crash without completing any of the 9 laps.

The finish came in his 4th career start. In the SCRL Formula 3 Series, it's the 1st for car #21 and the 1st from a crash. Across all the series in the SCRL, it's the 16th for the #21 and the 227th from a crash. Fox had already proven himself to be a veteran in the SCRL, having scored 6 career wins and was looking to continue his success in the SCRL's smallest Formula division. Fox would finish an impressive 9th place in his debut at Catalunya, finishing 19th in the second round hours later and would finish runner up to Oscar Isaac in Round 3 at Silverstone.

On race day, Fox would roll off starting 22nd while starting last was Round 3 race winner the #16 RC Cola of Oscar Isaac and just like what had happened to Ryan Rush in the first event at Silverstone, Fox would make contact with the #1 IZOD of Sebastian Cucalon, sending both cars into the inside guard rail, sending Fox for a full 360 flip, destroying his car. Fox would make it back to pit road and would pull into the garage, his day done before he even had gotten into third gear, becoming the first driver to fail to complete a lap.

Rounding out the Bottom Five would be drivers who finished on the same circuit as the race leaders: 22nd second Catalunya last-place finisher the #8 BMC / Embrase / Hyundai Brazil of Elliott Rose, 21st was the #5 CITGO / PDVSA of Greg Torres, 20th was the ABC Supply Co. of Ray Dent and 19th was the #9 Target of Christian Russell.
