Formula 3: Rookie DJ Dogo trails the field in series first ever race thanks to early spin at Catalunya

DJ Dogo picked up the 1st last place finish of his SCRL Formula 3 Series career in Round 1 at the Circuit de Catalunya when his #26 RC Cola completed all 8 laps under power.

The finish came in his 1st career start. In the SCRL Formula 3 Series, it's the 1st for car #26 and the 1st where the car was still running. Across all the series in the SCRL, it's the 4th for the #26 and the 200th where the car was still running. DJ Dogo was one of 11 of the 23 who signed up with be making their debuts in the SCRL by way of the Formula division lowest series; the SCRL Formula 3 Series in which each race would be given a twenty(20) minute time limit and the winner of the first race of the weekend would start last and the driver who finished last in the first race would start first in the other event, so strategy would have to be key for a driver to score points in both events.

On race day, Dogo would roll off starting 3rd while starting in the final spot was the #3 Shell V-Power / Pennzoil Ultra of Samet Ozkan. Ozkan wouldn't be destined to be in last for long, as the driver quickly made his move in Turn 1 and knocked the #6 TrueCar of Brian Fox into the final spot, a position Fox would hold for the first lap, and then the second lap. Fox was trailing as the field entered Turn 7 when Dogo, who was battling for 3rd, was tapped from behind by the #28 DHL / Sun Drop Citrus Soda of Zachary Billson and spun off the track and made contact with the tire barrier. No caution would come out, but Dogo would have to be towed back to pit road, and as soon as the car was back in the stall, the crew made quick repairs and sent their driver back out onto the track, nearly a minute behind the leaders when the checkered flag was waved.

Rounding out the Bottom Five were: 22nd was the #5 PDVSA / CITGO of Greg Torres, 21st was the #33 NovoLog FlexPen of Mitchell Collins, 20th was the aforementioned #6 of Brian Fox and 19th was the #1 IZOD of Sebastian Cucalon.
