Formula 2: Tire problems at Hungaroring give Muhammad Zain Abdullah the 2nd last-place finish of his career

Muhammad Zain Abdullah picked up the 1st last place finish of his SCRL Formula 2 Series career in Round 5 at Hungaroring when his #11 Renault F1 Team completed all 10 laps under power.

The finish came in his 5th career start. In the SCRL Formula 2 Series, it's the 1st for car #11 and the 6th where the car was still running. Across all the series in the SCRL, it's the 10th for the #11 and the 210th where the car was still running. Abdullah is a veteran when it comes to completing in the SCRL but had only found limited success, scoring one career win, that coming in Season 4 of the SCRL NASCAR Legends Series at Richmond. Abdullah's Formula career started off with a 4th and 7th at Silverstone before scoring his 2nd career win in the series first ever race at Spa. In Round 4, Abdullah started 8th due to the rules that the Formula 2 division followed, and worked his way up through the field, taking the lead from Marko Tellez in Turn 8 and becoming the first driver to not only win twice in the series, but to win back-to-back races.

The entry list for the first time in the Formula 2 division was bumped up from 20 cars to 21 as Cole Nixey would be making his Formula 2 Series debuting, driving for BMW Sauber F1 Team.

On race day, Abdullah would roll off starting 18th while starting last was the #22 BMW Sauber F1 Team of Daniel Price. As the green flag waved, price was determined not to trail the field for the first time in his career, as he quickly knocked second Spa last-place finisher the #4 Mercedes GP Petronas F1 Team of Mike Pearson into the final spot. Pearson would trail for the first three laps when Abdullah, who had worked his way up to 15th, began to slow in Turns 5 and 6, coasting back to the pits as the field drove past him. Abdullah's crew would put four fresh tires on the car and sent their driver back out on track, their only hope of gaining any spots would be if another driver had problems, it wouldn't happened, as Abdullah would finish over a full minute behind the race leaders.

Rounding out the Bottom Five were: 20th was the #18 Lotus F1 Racing of Chakat Whitelion, 19th was the #8 Scuderia Ferrari Marlboro of Tracey Dent, 18th was the aforementioned #4 of Jason Larker and 17th was the #3 Mercedes GP Petronas F1 Team of Jack Canaramo.
