Formula 2: Contact with team mate Marko Tellez at Catalunya makes Eddie Wycombe the first driver to trail a F2 race twice

Eddie Wycombe picked up the 2nd last place finish of his SCRL Formula 2 Series career in Round 7 at Circuit de Catalunya when his #25 Virgin Racing completed 7 of the 8 laps under power.

The finish, which came in his 8th career start, was his first on the circuit since Round 3 at Circuit de Spa Francorchamps when he completed all 6 laps under power, 4 races ago. In the SCRL Formula 2 Series, it's the 2nd for car #25 and the 8th where the car was still running. Across all the series in the SCRL, it's the 12th for the #25 and the 214th where the car was still running. After trailing the field at Spa, Wycombe finished 12th in the second Spa event before finishing 6th and 2nd at Hungaroring.

On race day, Wycombe would roll off starting 11th while starting last was first Catalunya last-place finisher the #10 AT&T Williams of Devohn Blue, a position that Blue would hold for the first lap. As the field entered Turn 1 to complete lap two, Wycombe was battling his team mate the #24 Virgin Racing of Marko Tellez when the two cars made contact exiting Turn 2, sending Wycombe for a spin, hitting the concrete wall and getting stuck in the gravel trap. Wycombe's car would be towed back to pit road as repairs were made to the car as they would lose a lap before sending their driver back out to be running at the finish, the only car to not finish on the lead lap.

Rounding out the Bottom Five were: 20th was the #22 BMW Sauber F1 Team of Daniel Price, 19th was first Silverstone last-place finisher the #2 Vodafone McLaren Mercedes of Leonard Pearson, 18th was the aforementioned #10 of Devohn Blue and 17th for the second race in a row was the #17 Scuderia Toro Rosso of Zachary Fitzwater Jr.
