Toby Fox picked up the 2nd last place finish of his SCRL CatDog Pro Series East career in Friday's American Real TV 150 at the Dover International Speedway when his #71 Grimm Construction Chevrolet was involved in a multi-car crash after 2 of 40 laps.
The finish, which came in Fox's 20th series start, was his first in a East Series race since November 8, 2017, when he suffered engine problems without completing any of the 52 laps of the Kevin Whitaker Chevrolet 150 at the Greenville-Pickens Speedway, nine races ago.
Ever since he trailed the field at Greenville, Fox had found some success as he was able to pick up his first career SCRL CatDog Pro Series East win by surviving the wreckfest at Watkins Glen and was sitting 6th in points as the series ran it's final race of the season.
On race day Fox would roll off the grid 20th while starting last was championship contender and Watkins Glen last-place finisher the #10 Widow Wax / SealWrap Heavy Duty Toyota of Jay Jefferson, but his stay would last only two turns before Nazareth last-place finisher the #07 Sims Metal Management Ford of Nick Kennedy would trail the field on Lap one and by the time the field had come back around chaos broke out in Turn 1 as a ten car wreck collected two championship contenders and Fox was the first driver to retire from the race.
Rounding out the bottom five were drivers who also were involved in the second lap wreck; 35th went to the #26 American Mountain Rentals / Amtrol Toyota of Cole Nixey, 34th to the #8 Sign Innovations Toyota driven by Kyle Hunter, 33rd to the SCRLASTCAR Champion the #47 PMC / Health Bridge Imaging Toyota of Tim Randolph and finally 32nd was Iowa last place finisher the #37 Viva La Raza Racing Toyota of Gatlin Downey.
Due to Toby Fox finishing last, that gave the SCRLASTCAR Championship for the East Series to Tim Randolph by virtue of three last place finishes.
