East: Gatlin Downey last after early crash at Iowa

Gatlin Downey picked up the 1st last place finish of his SCRL CatDog Pro Series East career in today's Graham Tire 150 at the Iowa Speedway when his #37 Viva La Raza Racing Toyota was involved in a multi-car accident after 6 of the 25 laps.

The finish came in Downey's 7th career series start.

Coming into Season 1 of the SCRL CatDog Pro Series East, Downey was one of many drivers still searching for not only his first win but also to make a name in the SCRL as he has yet to impressive despite being in several series so far in his career.

Starting last on the field was the #99 Boost Mobile Toyota of Rodney Crouch but his stay in the back lasted only through to the backstretch as a wreck would break out, knocking the #8 Sign Innovations Toyota driven by Kyle Hunter down to last for the first two laps before the #98 Curb Records / Celebrity Fight Night Chevrolet of Chris Kyle would take over last on lap three before Hunter would fall back to last on the sixth lap around the same time chaos broke out on the backstretch. Yet another multi-car crash would break out as Downey would be hit by another car and would get damage that would knock him out, but it wasn't until the tenth lap when Hunter passed him, did Downey finally nail down last place.

Rounding out the bottom five were drivers who finished under power: the aforementioned #98 of Chris Kyle who finished three laps down, the #8 of Kyle Hunter(two laps down), the #9 Aaron's / HendrickCars.com Chevrolet of Jack Lagasse(one lap behind) and two-time last place finisher the #1 NASCAR Technical Institute / UTI Toyota of Luke Rainey.
