East: Tim Randolph becomes first driver to sweep a track after early wreck at South Boston; takes lead in SCRLASTCAR title hunt

Tim Randolph picked up the 3rd last place finish of his SCRL CatDog Pro Series East career in Saturday's Strutmasters.com 150 at the South Boston Speedway when his #47 PMC / Health Bridge Imaging Toyota was involved in a multi-car crash after 6 of 30 laps.

The finish, which came in Randolph's 16th series start, was his third of the season, his first in a East Series race since October 22, 2017, when he failed to complete any of the 42 laps of the Blue Ox 100 at the Richmond International Raceway due to engine problems.

As the field made their return trip to South Boston, Randolph had shaken off his back luck at South Boston earlier in the season where a Tire problem had given him his first last place finish as well as at Richmond and rebounded nicely the next round at Talladega where he led three laps to finish 5th, a third at 3rd at DuQuoin Fairgrounds, a 5th at Thompson and with a finish of 14th in the last round at Watkins Glen, Randolph was sitting 9th in points.

On race day, Randolph would roll off the grid 33rd while starting last on the field was the #0 Viva La Raza Racing Toyota of Alexander Rowe. Rowe's stay in last would last for only one lap before points leader the #46 Aquis Communications / ComServe Dodge of Sammy Sabre Jr. would drop back and would trail the field till lap 6 when Loudon last place finisher the #39 Generation Rescue Chevrolet of Eli Bright would drop back and it looked like Bright would score his second career last place finish, but one lap later chaos would break out on the frontstretch.

While racing three wide with the #4 Toyota Racing Development Toyota of Brian Fox, Darlington last-place finisher the #70 Viva La Raza Racing Toyota of Zapatos Amarrados made contact with the the #86 Trauma Doc Chevrolet of Max Anderson sending Anderson down the track just as Randolph was trying to make it four wide, sending both cars into the inside wall just at the wrong angle were the pitroad had an opening, damaging both cars and pushing the cars back up the track where a huge multi-car wreck would break out. The red flag would be brought out to clean up the mess as both the #47 and 86 would be done for the day and due to Randolph crossing the line behind Anderson, Randolph was given the last place spot on the same lap as Anderson.

Rounding out the bottom five was; 34th went to Greenville-Pickens last-place finisher the #71 Grimm Construction Chevrolet of Toby Fox who was involved in a lap fifteen crash just behind Thompson last-place finisher the #50 Bank Street Cafe Chevrolet of Marcos Alejandro, whose's gearbox broke setting up a chain reaction that brought out the second caution of the day. 32nd went to the #22 Oakley / Bruster's Ice Cream Dodge of Cam Nixey, who was running in second at the time brought out the third and final caution when his engine expired and he stalled on the frontstretch on Lap 21.
