East: Rookie Ryan Rush scores first career last place finish at VIR; championship battle set for Dover

Ryan Rush picked up the 1st last place finish of his SCRL CatDog Pro Series East career in Thursday's Biscuitville 125 at the Virginia International Raceway when his #62 Octane / SavannahPawn.com Chevrolet was involved in a multi-car crash after 6 of 12 laps.

The finish, came in Rush's 19th series start. Coming into the East Series, Ryan had yet to make his debut as his brother Joshua had been completing without any success so far. In his series debut at Daytona, Ryan finished 28th while his brother Joshua finished second to another rookie, Sammy Sabre Jr. A finish of second at South Boston was Ryan's high point in the season until his tenth career start, Ryan would score his first career win at the New Jersey road course.

On race day Ryan would roll off the grid 20th while starting last was the #73 Celtic Waste Dodge of James Stabilito but his stay in last would last only a few turns before the #8 Sign Innovations Toyota driven by Kyle Hunter would trail the field after getting damage in a first lap wreck and would trail the field until lap 5 when three time and current SCRLASTCAR title leader the #47 PMC / Health Bridge Imaging Toyota of Tim Randolph would take last after his own bout with damage from a pileup and if Randolph had finished last, he would have won the championship with one race to go.

However just a few laps later yet another wreck would break out and Rush having nowhere to go, ran into the back of Loudon last-place finisher the #39 Generation Rescue Chevrolet of Eli Bright and by Lap 7 Rush's team had officially retired the car, locking up Rush's first last place finish of his career.

Rounding out the bottom five were; 35th and 34th was the #14 Marussia / KSS Design / APO Toyota of Yang Canario and the aforementioned #39 of Eli Bright, both involved in the same Lap 6 wreck. Finishing 33rd was the aforementioned Tim Randolph and 32nd was the #26 American Mountain Rentals / Amtrol Toyota of Cole Nixey, both finishing on the same lap as winner Evan Hunter.

Heading into the season finale at Dover, Tim Randolph has a 1 last place finish more then Kevin McHugh and Luke Rainey, if anyone else but them finished last, the championship will be Randolph's.
