Throwback Legends: Early mechanical problems ends Truttle's Championship hopes at Texas World

Truttle picked up the 1st last place finish of his SCRL NASCAR Legends Series career in the S2 Texas 500 at the Texas World Speedway when his #71 K & K Insurance sponsored Dodge fell out with engine trouble after 10 of the 25 laps.

The finish, came in his 54th career series start in the then named ONL(Oreius Nascar Leagues). By the start of S2 of the Legends Series, Truttle had already shown he was a force to be reckon with as he had scored a record eight wins the previous season(a record that still stands to this day) on his way to being the first ever series and league champion.

Heading into Texas World, Truttle was having a less successful season in terms of win, with only three on the season, but was still in the championship hunt as him and Bulldog67 battled for the second season in a row for the title. A full field of 41 drivers were on hand which meant no one would be going home. Truttle would have a good run in practice as his car had the fastest time but in qualifying his Dodge appeared to lack power and would roll off the grid a disappointing 6th.

Starting 41st was the #39 unsponsored Dodge driven by twistedsoul1031 who was making one of his final starts as he would trail the field the first nine laps before a car starting smoking up ahead. With Truttle stuck on the high side, he dropped back to tenth before getting on the low line and by the ninth lap he had worked his way up to 3rd before his car began to lose power before starting to smoke. Truttle would pull down off the track and coasted to the garage, his day and shot at being a back-to-back champion was over.

Rounding out the bottom five was North Wilkesboro race winner the #121 Harvest Motors Ford of tryhard_ak74 and the #32 Bestline Products Plymouth of Ruby, both of whom were two laps behind race winner Oreius Centaur. The remaining two bottom drivers finished the race on the same lap as Oreius; the #20  of nascardenny11 and the #48 of Umbreon.

Today, Truttle still completes part-time for the SCRL and holds many records(Most wins in a season, most wins in a career among others). While not racing in the SCRL, Truttle has a career in drawing and hopes to come back full time in the near future.
