Marcos Alejandro picked up the 1st last place finish of his SCRL CatDog Pro Series East career in Tuesday's Hannaford / Shop & Save 300 at the Thompson Speedway when his #50 Bank Street Cafe Chevrolet fell out with engine trouble without completing any of the 20 laps.
The finish came in Alejandro's 14th career series start. Coming into the East Series, Alejandro was one of many drivers still trying to make their make in the SCRL as he had yet to score that first career win. In his debut at Daytona, Alejandro was able to finish a impressive 13th and when round 7 came around at Iowa, Alejandro finished a career best 2nd place to race winner Hanz DeVice and entering Thompson, Alejandro was 8th in points.
On race day, Alejandro would roll off the grid 18th while starting last on the field was the #96 Emco Gears / Blue Ox Chevrolet of Diego Yepez. As the field made their way off pit road, Alejandro's car began to smoke as he quickly pulled down to the inside of the track and onto pit road and into the garage and if the team wasn't able to fix the problems, this would make the fifth race of the season a driver didn't complete a lap. By the time drivers got to Lap 2, Alejandro's team had reported the engine was destroyed and officially retired their car.
Rounding out the bottom five were drivers who all completed the race under power; 35th was the #15 Bienvenidos a NASCAR / Mayor Cars Toyota of Rodriguez Zapatos the only other driver to be down a lap. 34th through 32nd respectively was the #4 Toyota Racing Development Toyota of Brian Fox, the aforementioned #96 of Diego Yepez and the #08 Mountain Dew Chevrolet of Hanz DeVice.
