Tim Randolph picked up the 2nd last place finish of his SCRL CatDog Pro Series East career in today's Blue Ox 100 at the Richmond International Raceway when his #47 PMC / Health Bridge Imaging Toyota fell out with engine trouble without completing any of the 42 laps.
The finish, which came in Randolph's 8th career series start, was his second of the season, his first since South Boston, five races ago. The finish put Randolph in a two-way tie for the first most last-place runs in series history, tying Luke Rainey. There have now been two races in East Series history were the last place finisher failed to complete a single lap.
After finishing last at South Boston earlier in the season, Randolph struggled at Nazareth and Road Atlanta but the past two rounds at Darlington and Iowa he would pick up back-to-back 3rd place finishes that had him looking forward to Richmond.
Starting last on the field was the #15 Bienvenidos a NASCAR / Mayor Cars Toyota of Rodriguez Zapatos but his stay in the back lasted only seconds as drivers pulled out of the pits Randolph's car stalled on the grid and would be done for the day. Also at the same time as Randolph stalling, the #4 Toyota Racing Development Toyota of Brian Fox stalled up as well and since Randolph's pit stall was behind Fox, Randolph was scored last as both cars wouldn't complete a lap.
Rounding out the bottom five were drivers who would victims of multi-car crashes; the #86 Trauma Doc Chevrolet of Max Anderson taken out in a Lap 10 wreck, Bristol last place finisher the #20 Rockstar / Royal Purple Toyota of Gustavo Arocha and two time last place finisher Luke Rainey, both taken out in a Lap 35 crash but Rainey was scored higher due to to completing one more lap.
