Dexter Black picked up the 1st last-place finish of his SCRL CatDog Pro Series West career in today's Grainger Industrial Supply 200 Pres. by TCI at the Portland Speedway when his #54 K&N Air Fillters / MGP Chevrolet completed all 20 laps under power.
The finish came in Black's 7th career series start. Coming into the West Series Black had a somewhat of a successful SCRL career, scoring one win in the SCRL Formula 1 Series at the Silverstone road course, but other then that has had an un-eventful career. Black's West debut was a 10th at Phoenix and a win at Willow Springs and a 13th at Iowa in the previous round placed Black fifth in points, only 12 points behind championship points leader Greg Lee.
Starting last on the field was the #20 NAPA Batteries Toyota driven by Mani Salado but trailing the field by Lap 1 was the #03 Rockstar / Royal Purple Ford of Riley Spurlytube, the #22 Century Boatland Chevrolet driven by Colin Dryburgh on Lap 3, Phoenix last place finisher the #55 First Impression Press / Hinkley Lighting Toyota of Oscar Isaac on Lap 4 before Dexter Black entered the battle on Lap 5 before he would knock the #52 51 Fifty Energy Drink Ford of Kurt Trenchermen to last on the 6th lap before Isaac would retake last for Laps 7 and 8.
Colin Drybrugh would retake the last place on the ninth lap and he would trail the field for several laps before Black would take last on the 14th lap and from that point he would lose ground with the rest of the field and would finish last.
Rounding out the bottom five were drivers who finished the race under power: the aforementioned Oscar Isaac, the #38 unsponsored Chevrolet of Chakat Whitelion, the #2 WestWorld Computers Chevrolet of AJ Jones and finally Colin Dryburgh.
