Derrick Edison picked up the 2nd last place finish of his SCRL NASCAR Legends Series career in the Season 4 National 500 at the Charlotte Motor Speedway when his #32 Bestline Products Plymouth completed all 32 laps under power.
The finish, which came in his 24th start, was his first on the circuit since the Riverside 400 at the Riverside International Raceway when he completed all 15 laps under power, 10 races ago. In the SCRL NASCAR Legends Series, it's the 5th for car #32 and the 45th where the car was still running. Across all the series in the SCRL, it's the 13th for the #32 and the 199th where the car was still running.
After trailing the field at the summer Riverside event, Edison struggled in the next round at Greenville-Pickens finishing 30th before finishing 9th at Thompson, 17th at Bristol, 4th at Atlanta, 7th at Michigan before crashing out and finishing 39th at Talladega. In the next round at Bowman-Gray, Edison would led 8 laps and finished a series best 2nd Bowman-Gray to Jack Lagasee. Edison finished 25th at Darlington, 17th at Richmond before finishing 4th at North Wilkesboro.
On race day, Edison rolled off starting 27th while starting off in the final spot was the #99 Dow Chemicals Dodge of Joshua Rush, a spot he would hold for the first two laps before passing and knocking the #36 Coca-Cola Dodge of Eddie Wycombe into the final spot on lap 3. Wycombe would be in the final spot for one lap before knocking fall Michigan last-place finisher the #70 unsponsored Ford of Brock Beard into last on Lap 4, but Brock's stay in last would also last one lap as he knocked the #64 Woodfield Ford of Josh Nixey into the final spot.
Nixey would also remain in last for only one lap as he would pass the #29 unsponsored Chevrolet of Marko Tellez into last on Lap 6 before Brock would fall back to last for a second time on Lap 7. Two time last-place finisher the #72 DeWitt Enterprises Mercury of Nathan Ormond fell back to last on Lap 8 and would trail for the next two laps as spring North Wilkesboro last-place finisher the #31 unsponsored Dodge of Carter Frisen took last on Lap 11 and would trail for two laps himself until he passed Brock on Lap 14. Brock would keep last for two laps as he would then pass fall Atlanta last-place finisher the #34 unsponsored Ford of Al Lagasse to last on Lap 16.
Lagasse wouldn't be in the final spot for long as Brock took last for the 4th time on Lap 17, and would trail for three laps this time, keeping last till Lap 21 when Ormond took last for the second time in the race. Tellez would entered the battle again on Lap 22 but the next lap he passed the #7 unsponsored Plymouth of Simon Fox into last on Lap 23. Edison at this point had fallen back from 27th and would take last for the first time on Lap 24, trailing for two laps, knocking Fox back to last again on Lap 26. The #5 unsponsored Dodge of Logan Bueckert would fall back to last on Lap 27 but the next lap the #21 60 Minute Cleaners Mercury Cyclone of Bryan McKayson took the final spot before Ormond would once again fall back to last on Lap 29. Ormond would trail the field as the white flag was thrown, but in Turn 3 Ormond made his move and knocked Edison into the final spot as the checkered flag fell.
Rounding of the Bottom Five were: 41st the aforementioned #72 of Nathan Ormond, 40th was the #64 of Josh Nixey, 39th was the #21 of Bryan McKayson and 38th was the #5 of Logan Bueckert
