LEGENDS: Veteran Carter Frisen gets first career last-place finish after early wreck at North Wilkesboro

Carter Friesen picked up the 1st last place finish of his SCRL NASCAR Legends Series career in the Season 4 North Wilkesboro 400 at the North Wilkesboro Speedway when his #31 unsponsored Dodge was involved in a multi-car crash after 5 of the 40 laps.

The finish came in his 8th start. In the SCRL NASCAR Legends Series, it's the 1st for car #31 and the 17th from a crash. Across all the series in the SCRL, it's the 7th for the #31 and the 215th from a crash.

Friesen had yet to make a start in the SCRL NASCAR Legends Series, but he had already proven himself, having scored three career wins in the SCRL. In his first ever Legends race, Frisen finished a disappointing 40th on the twisting road course at Riverside. A 21st at Ontario and a 27th at Richmond would continue to make his season struggle, but a 3rd place at Richmond boosted the team's spirits as they finished 12th at Atlanta, 4th at Bristol and in the last round they survived a late race crash to finish 6th at Talladega.

On race day, Friesen rolled off starting in 28th while starting last was the #71 K & K Insurance Dodge of Sylas Nixey but Nixey's stay in the final spot lasted only two turns as he knocked the #21 60 Minute Cleaners Mercury Cyclone of Bryan McKayson into last while going down the backstretch. McKayson's Cyclone would struggle to keep up as he was about a second behind the car in front of him when the battle for last ended when chaos broke out on the frontstretch. While battling for 17th, the #36 Coca-Cola Dodge of Eddie Wycombe went three wide with the #40 7-Up Plymouth of Brian Fox and the #59 Pepsi Ford of Carter Joey as the three cars made contact, causing a pileup as the #99 Dow Chemicals Dodge of Joshua Rush came back down across the track in front of Frisen as his car's front end was completely destroyed while behind him he was hit from behind by the #64 Woodfield Ford of Josh Nixey and damaging his own car. Frisen was able to limp around and pulled into the garage, his day done, while Nixey limped around to complete one more lap before also pulling in.

As drivers entered Turn 2, Beard made contact with the #75 Kentucky Fried Chicken Special Plymouth of Dilan Ebrahimian, starting a ten car pileup in Turn 2 and down the backstretch. Nixey was stuck on the high side and had nowhere to go as Ebrahimian's car slid up the track and right in front of the #27 car as Nixey's front end was crushed. While Nixey was able to limp back around to pit road, his crew didn't even try to attempt to repair the car as the radiator had been damaged and their car was done for the day.

40th was the #6 unsponsored Dodge of Adam McDowell and 39th was the #13 unsponsored Chevrolet of Leroy Jones, who both finished a lap down to the race leaders.

Rounding out the Bottom Five was Bristol last-place finisher the #09 unsponsored Chevrolet of Paul Hogan, who was the last car on the lead lap.
