Formula 3: Carter Joey picks up the 6th last-place finish of his career after multi-car crash prevents him from completing a lap at Monaco

Carter Joey picked up the 1st last place finish of his SCRL Formula 3 Series career in Round 13 at the Circuit de Monaco when his #2 IZOD was involved in a multi-car crash without completing any of the 8 laps.

The finish came in his 13th career start. In the SCRL Formula 3 Series, it's the 1st for car #2 and the 3rd from a crash. Across all the series in the SCRL, it's the 12th for the #2 and the 239th from a crash. Entering the inaugural F3 season, Joey was looking for some good runs, as he had only found victory lane one time in his career, that coming in race 10 of Season 1 of the SCRL Snap-On Tools Whelen Southern Series the NASCAR Whelen Southern Modified Tour 150 at the Caraway Speedway. Joey finished 15th and 8th at Catalunya, 13th and 12th at Silverstone, 8th and 20th at Hockenheimring, 21st and a runner up 2nd place at Hungaroring, 10th at both Kyalami races before finishing 18th and then scoring another 2nd place finish at Monza.

On race day, Joey rolled off starting 16th while starting last was second Kyalami last-place finisher the #28 DHL / Sun Drop Citrus Soda of Zachary Billson, a position he wouldn't hold for long as by the time the field had made it to Turn 14, chaos broke out as the #99 Target of Ryan Rush was the first driver to lose control and slammed into the tire barrier, coming back across the track in front of the #19 Boy Scouts of America of Al Lagasee, causing Lagasee to nearly flip over as his car came back across and hit Joey at the wrong time, destroying Lagasee's, Joey's and second Silverstone last-place finisher the #21 Exide Batteries of Simon Fox, with all three drivers not completing a lap, while Rush was able to limp around to complete one lap before pulling into the garage.

Rounding out the Bottom Five was first Kyalami last-place finisher the #12 Verizon of Dilan Ebrahimian, who also had a bout with the Turn 14 wall, ending his day after three laps.

*This was the first time the #2 had finished last in a Formula 3 race as well as at Monaco.
*This is only the second time a driver has failed to complete a lap in the Formula 3 Series; the only other time was when Simon Fox was involved in a multi-car crash in the second Silverstone event; 9 races ago.
