Euro Elite 1: Mark Owens gets first last-place finish of his career at Red Bull Ring

Mark Owens picked up the 1st last place finish of his SCRL Sun Energy Whelen Euro Elite 1 career in Round 7 at the Red Bull Ring when his #58 #58 Tire Barn Ford completed all 9 laps under power.

The finish came in his 7th career start. In the SCRL Sun Energy Whelen Euro Elite 1, it's the 1st for car #58 and the 4th for running at the finish. Across all the series in the SCRL, it's the 5th for the #58 and the 134th for running at the finish.

Mark Owens is one of a few rookies looking to make a name for themselves in the SCRL's newest series. Owen impressed alot of people as he finished runner up in his first ever start at Monza, and in the next round at Brands Hatch, Owens proved it wasn't a fluke, finishing 9th. At Circuit de Spa Owens finished 21st, but at Estoril, Owens picked up a 3rd place finish, at Hockenheimring finished 23rd and in the last round at Kyalami he finished 18th.

On race day, Owens would roll off starting in the 24th and final spot and at the drop of the green flag, Owens quickly lost touch with the rest of the group, falling nearly  seconds behind the race leaders, and easily scored his first last-place finish of his career.
