Euro Elite 1: Ryan Rush gets first career last place finish in chaotic first lap at Spa Francorchamps

Ryan Rush picked up the 1st last place finish of his SCRL Sun Energy Whelen Euro Elite 1 career in Round 3 at Circuit de Spa Francorchamps when his #87 Frisby Prancer Dodge was involved in a multi-car crash after 2 of the 5 laps.

The finish came in his 3rd career start. In the SCRL Sun Energy Whelen Euro Elite 1, it's the 1st for car #87 and the 1st for reason by crash. Across all the series in the SCRL, it's the 3rd for the #87 and the 191st for reason by crash.

Ryan Rush is still somewhat of a rookie in terms of racing in the SCRL, but he has tasted success in the short time he's been racing, as he has one career win, coming in Season 1 of the SCRL CatDog Pro Series East at the New Jersey Motorsports Park road course. Rush's Whelen Euro Elite 1 career started off with a 12th place finish at Monza and then a 15th at Brands Hatch as the driver was looking to get his first Top 10 of the season at the third race of the season.

On race day, Rush would roll off starting in the 13th spot while the #39 Sweeteners Plus Chevrolet of Matt Hamill rolled off the grid in the final spot. At the drop of the green flag, chaos broke out almost immediately as drivers entered Turn 1 too wide and were hitting the tire barriers, but most were able to keep on going as Rush went four wide with the #32 Sweeteners Plus Chevrolet of Max Anderson, the aforementioned #39 of Matt Hamill and the #31 Blackwells Auto Chevrolet of Marcus Saatchi as all four drivers ran out of room, causing a four car wreck on the frontstretch as Rush nailed the outside wall nearly head on, crushing the hood and front end. Amazingly Rush was able to drive around the track for two more laps under caution trying to gain as many points as possible, but with no one dropping out, the team ordered Rush into the garage, his car listed as "out" by the start of the third lap.

The remaining Bottom Five finished on the same lap as the race leaders; 23rd was the #98 Wave Energy Drink of Muhammad Zain Abdullah, 22nd was the aforementioned #39 of Matt Hamill, 21st was the #58 Tire Barn Ford of Mark Owens and 20th was the #32 of Max Anderson.
