Formula 1: David Solomon becomes first driver to trail in a night race in series first race at Yas Marina

David Solomon picked up the 2nd last place finish of his SCRL Red Bull Formula One Series career in the Season 2 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix at the Yas Marina Circuit when his #26 Scuderia Toro Rosso completed all 6 laps under power.

The finish, which came in his 12th career start, was his first on the circuit since the Grand Prix of the Netherlands at the Circuit Zandvoort when he completed all 8 laps under power, 8 races ago. In the SCRL Red Bull Formula One Series, it's the 2nd for car #26 and the 10th where the car was still running. Across all the series in the SCRL, it's the 6th for the #26 and the 221st where the car was still running. After trailing for the first time in his career in the season's 4th race, Solomon would finish 12th at CTMP, 21st at Monza, 17th at Shanghai, 14th at Monaco, before finishing 4th at Silverstone before scoring a runner up finish to Nick Kennedy at Magny-Cours. In the last round at Spa, Solomon would get caught up in a early wreck, but would limp home to finish 17th.

On race night, Solomon rolled off starting 21st while starting in the final spot was the #8 Haas F1 Team of Joseph Huffman as drivers for the first time in series history raced under the lights at the series first ever event at Yas Marina. As soon as the field took the green flag, Huffman was determined to not finish last in the first night race as he quickly knocked Solomon into the final spot. Unknown at the time was that the pass for last would turn out to be the only battle that would happen, as drivers would quickly get spread out around the 5.554 km track as Solomon would trail the field for everyone of the six laps, falling more then 35 seconds behind the race leaders when the checkered flag was waved.

Rounding out the Bottom Five were: 21st was the aforementioned #8 of Joseph Huffman, 20th was the #20 Renault Sport F1 Team of Ty Dent, 19th was the #30 Renault Sport F1 Team of Cassie Dent and 18th was the #27 Sahara Force India F1 Team of Riley Spurlytube.
