Throwback ARCA TRUCK: "Big One" strikes early at Gateway; Isaac Nicholls becomes the first driver to not finish a ARCA Truck Series race under power

Isaac Nicholls picked up the 1st last place finish of his SCRL ARCA Truck Series career in the Season 1 Door 2 Door Delivery 100 at the Gateway International Raceway when his #26 Coyote Entertainment Chevrolet was involved in a multi-truck crash after 6 of the 22 laps.

The finish came in his 5th career series start.

Nicholls was one of many drivers in the field looking to make a name for himself in the ARCA Series's second highest division, the SCRL ARCA Truck Series. Nicholls signed up as the series was run at the same time as the SCRL Lucas Oil ARCA Racing Series, with the Truck Series running a 12 schedule for it's inaugural season started off at the Toledo Speedway, where Nicholls finished 11th. Nicholls would struggle to a 22nd at Mesa Marin before scoring his best finish so far, a 8th at Dover while in the last round at Bowman Gray, Nicholls once again impressed, finishing 10th.

On race day, Nicholls would roll off starting 15th while for the second race in a row the #17 unsponsored Chevrolet of Oscar Isaac started in the final spot. The racing action was intense early on as the first caution would come on just as the field entered Turn 4 as a five truck wreck broke out, damaging Mesa Marin last-place finisher the #72 Big Blue Dodge of Lowden Clear as he lost a lap to the leaders while getting repairs. Just one lap after the field went back racing, yet another cash broke out on the backstretch, before another to break out in Turn 4 seconds later. This time, Nicholls was involved, running into the #21 unsponsored Chevrolet of Gavyn Moore, destroying both trucks and sending Nicholls nearly over into a flip. Nicholls and the #9 unsponsored Chevrolet of Laura Delano would both be done for the day, completing 6 laps and filling out the bottom two spots.

The remaining Bottom Five were drivers also involved in the hard crash, but were able to limp around to complete one more lap before they each pulled into the garage; 24th was the #4 unsponsored Chevrolet of AJ Jones, 23rd the aforementioned #21 of Gavyn Moore and 22nd was the #28 ETS / Engine Rebuilders Chevrolet of Caiden Irene.

Nicholls wouldn't have to wait for long for his first career win, as three races later he scored his first and so far only career SCRL sanctioned win at Lanier.
