ARCA Trucks: Jimmy Dawson suffers early spin then flat tire at Salem

Jimmy Dawson picked up the 1st last place finish of his SCRL ARCA Truck Series career in Tuesday's Season 2 Salem 50 at the Salem Speedway when his #09 Burning Rubber Chevrolet finished under power after 18 of 20 laps.

The finish came in his 6th start. In the SCRL ARCA Truck Series, it's the 1st for truck #09 and the 10th where the truck was still running. Across all the series in the SCRL, it's the 7th for the #09 and the 249th where the vehicle was still running.

Entering Season 2 of the SCRL's ARCA Truck Series, Dawson was a brand new driver in the SCRL, looking to make a name for himself in the SCRL's second highest ARCA division that the SCRL sanctioned. Dawson finished 21st in his series debut at Toledo, finishing 23rd at Kil-Kare, 17th at Nashville, before scoring his first career Top 5 with a 3rd place at Lanier in his 4th career start before he would repeat that finish with another 3rd place in the last round at Flat Rock.

In qualifying for the series first ever event at the half mile oval at Salem, Dawson would qualify 19th, 0.314 seconds behind Chakat Blizzardmane's pole winning time, while starting last was Sierra Albaugh in the #82 Champion Chevrolet.

When race started, Albaugh would trail for the first two laps around the track, when Dawson would tapped by the #91 DeSales U Chevrolet of Chakat Whitelion, sending Dawson for a small spin in Turn 2, however no caution would come up. Dawson would quickly regain control of his truck and went back to racing, but just a lap later he would be forced to go down pit road due to a flat right front tire, losing two laps in the pits, Dawson would come back out on the track, with only hoping another driver would have problems in a attempt to move up positions, but it was not to be, with Dawson the only truck to not finish on the same lap as the race leaders.

The remaining Bottom Five would finish on the same lap as the race leaders: 25th was the #26 Coyote Entertainment Chevrolet of Derrick Jones, 24th was the #51 Exxon Chevrolet of Burt Myers, 23rd was Kil-Kare last-place finisher the #54 Mansfield Welding Service Chevrolet of Leonard Pearson and 22nd was the #21 unsponsored Chevrolet of Mike Pearson.
