ARCA Midget: Daniel Hunter picks up his second straight last-place finish in the ARCA Midget Series in caution free race, despite early spin at Santa Fe

Daniel Hunter picked up the 2nd last place finish of his SCRL ARCA Midget Series career in Saturday's Season 1 Santa Fe 100 at the Santa Fe Speedway when his #16 completed all 10 laps under power.

The finish, which came in his 7th career series start, was his first on the circuit since the Indianapolis 100 at the Indianapolis Speedrome when he was involved in a single car crash without completing any of the 20 laps, 1 race ago. In the SCRL ARCA Midget Series, it's the 2nd for car #16 and the 5th where the car was still running. Across all the series in the SCRL, it's the 7th for the #16 and the 247th where the car was still running.

After having finished last in the last round at Indianapolis Speedrome, Hunter was looking to try and rebound as the ARCA Midget Series visited Willow Springs, Illinois, the sight of the half mile track that the NASCAR Grand National Series had visited all the way back in 1954. In qualifying at the half mile track, Dave Benjamin scored his 1st career series pole, while Daniel posted a time of 25.745, 0.371 seconds behind Benjamin's pole winning time, while starting last was the #5 of Michael Collins, who was unable a post a time due to his engine blowing up on his qualifying lap and was forced to start last using a provisional.

On race day, Collins would remain in last for the first two turns before knocking the #90 of Christian Vargas into last and would trail for the first lap, but the next time around, Vargas had knocked Daniel into last after Daniel was spun out in Turn 3 after contact from the #56 of Ethan Walker, Daniel would assume last on Lap 2, and despite no caution coming out, with Daniel falling over ten seconds behind the race leaders by the time the checkered flag waved.

The remaining Bottom Five drivers were: 19th was the #56 of Ethan Walker, 18th was the aforementioned #90 of Christian Vargas, 17th was Salem last-place finisher the #23 of Jeremy Hawkins and 16th was the #19 of Servan Sarihan.
