ARCA: Daytona race winner Matthew Logan collected in early crash at Salem; picks up first career SCRLASTCAR last-place finish

Matthew Logan picked up the 1st last place finish of his SCRL Lucas Oil ARCA Racing Series career in the Season 3 Kentuckiana Ford Dealers 200 at the Salem Speedway when his unsponsored #40 Carter 2 Motorsports Dodge was involved in a multi-car crash after 3 of the 20 laps.

The finish came in his 4th start. In the SCRL Lucas Oil ARCA Racing Series, it's the 1st for car #40 and the 22nd from a crash. Across all the series in the SCRL, it's the 2nd for the #40 and the 248th from a crash.

Entering Season 3 of the SCRL Lucas Oil ARCA Racing Series, Logan had never made a start in the SCRL, but despite that, he was quick to sign up to compete in the SCRL's highest division in it's ARCA Series, driving for team owner Roger Carter. In his first career start, Logan qualified a impressive 6th and would go on to lead the final five laps and held off Blaise Zebrataur to score the win in his first ever start. In the season's second event, Logan would finish 19th at Atlanta before finishing 8th in the last round at Nashville Fairgrounds.

For the first time ever in the SCRL's Lucas Oil ARCA Racing Series, drivers arrived at the 0.555 mile short track in Salem, Indiana, the site of Round 2 of the Sioux Chief Short Track Challenge Championship. In qualifying, Marcus Saatchi would score his first career series pole with a time of 16.091 seconds with Logan posting a time of 16.379 seconds, 0.288 behind Saatchi's pole run, placing Logan 35th on the grid. Starting last was the unsponsored #54 Kurzejewski Motorsports Dodge of Arina McShane, 0.366 seconds off Saatchi's pole sitting time.

When the race started, McShane would remain in last as the track's tight turns allowed for a lack of passing on the inside line, with the high line being the preferred passing line, McShane would trail for the first two laps around the track when coming off Turn 4, chaos would break out. While running in 18th, Tim Randolph's #16 Strutmasters.com Chevrolet went high in Turn 4, scraping the wall and coming out of Turn 4 the #19 Battomi-Lawton Insurance Dodge of Sebastian Cucalon ran up onto Randolph's car, making contact and sending Cucalon for a spin in front of half of the field as cars piled in with the #32 811 Call Before You Dig / Diamond Equipment Toyota of Chris Kyle being the first car who also spun out right in front of Logan as it destroyed the right front of the car as Logan would limp back around before pulling behind the wall having scored at three laps completed.

The next two spots would be taken by drivers who were also involved in the same crash, the #19 of Sebastian Cucalon and the #48 Radon.com Ford of Brian Fox, whith both drivers limping around to complete one more lap before both drivers pulled behind the wall on Lap 4.

Finishing 37th was the #1 ModSpace Ford of Truttle, who suffered a flat tire during the caution period and would lose a lap during the caution getting four sets and would try to gain the lap back over the remaining laps but was unable to.

Rounding out the Bottom Five in 36th was Atlanta race winner the #42 Crosley Radio Dodge of Sebastian Torres, who was the last car to finish on the same lap as the race leaders.
