Jack Lagasee picked up the 1st last place finish of his SCRL Lucas Oil ARCA Racing Series career in the Season 3 International Motorsports Hall of Fame 200 at the Talladega Superspeedway when his #23 Allegiant Air Chevrolet fell out with engine problems without completing any of the 21 laps.
The finish came in his 25th start. In the SCRL Lucas Oil ARCA Racing Series, it's the 1st for car #23 and the 2nd for engine issues. Across all the series in the SCRL, it's the 7th for the #23 and the 50th for engine issues.
Entering Season 3 of the SCRL Lucas Oil ARCA Racing Series, Jack had already had a very successful career, having scored 8 career SCRL sanctioned wins, with one coming in Season 2 of the ARCA Series at Iowa, as well as winning a championship, in Season 1 of the SCRL Wrangler Jeans Busch Grand National Series, Jack was more then ready to return to GMS Racing for Season 3 at an attempt at a secondary championship. Lagasee finished 23rd in his return to Daytona, before scoring a runner up finish to Sebastian Torres at Atlanta. In Round 1 of the Sioux Chief Short Track Challenge Championship, Lagasee finished 34th at Nashville before finishing 30th in the last round at Salem. For the third time in series history, drivers arrived at the 2.660 mile superspeedway in Talladega, Alabama, a track Lagasee finished 21st at in Season 2.
In qualifying, Alex Jones scored his first career series pole with a time of 51.320 seconds with Lagasee posting a time of 51.656 seconds, 0.336 behind Jones's pole run, placing Logan 39th on the grid. Starting last was Daytona last-place finisher the #22 Ebay Motors / St. Jude Children's Hospital Dodge, 0.367 seconds off Jones's pole sitting time.
Just seconds after the field rolled off pit road, Lagasee's car started to smoke, being forced to coast all the wall around the 2.666 mile superspeedway on the apron, before following behind the pace car down pit road as the rest of the field continued on to start the race, Lagasee pulled behind the wall and into the garage, with the team looking under the hood discovering the engine had blown up, ending their day without competing a lap, the car being listed as "out" shortly before the field went back to race after the first caution.
The remaining Bottom Five would be involved in the event's first Big One that came out seconds after the first lap had been completed: 39th was Atlanta last-place finisher the #25 ZLOOP Computer & Electronics Recycling Toyota of Joe Jefferson, 38th was the #4 Cessna Chevrolet of Randy Ward, 37th was the #5 Lucas Oil Slick Mist / AT Construction Chevrolet of Nathan Ormond and 36th was Nashville last-place finisher the unsponsored #67 Kimmel Racing Ford of Oriana Dent.
