ARCA Late Model: Carter Friesen picks up his second straight last-place finish at Nashville Fairgrounds

Carter Friesen picked up the 2nd last place finish of his SCRL ARCA Late Model Series career in Monday's Season 1 Music City 100 at the Nashville Fairgrounds when his #84 Community Pharmacies Dodge completed all 20 laps under power.

The finish, which came in his 7th career series start, was his first on the circuit since the Flat Rock 125 at the Flat Rock Speedway when he completed all 20 laps under power, 1 race ago. In the SCRL ARCA Late Model Series, it's the 2nd for car #84 and the 7th where the car was still running. Across all the series in the SCRL, it's the 5th for the #84 and the 251st where the car was still running.

After having trailed for the third time in his SCRL career in the last round at Flat Rock, Frisen and the other 19 drivers in the SCRL ARCA Late Model Series traveled down from Michigan to Tennessee to race for the very first time at the legendary half mile track known as the Nashville Fairgrounds, the sight of 42 SCRL Cup races, 9 SCRL Busch races and 5 SCRL Rainbow Dash Truck Series races over the years, but the first visit by the ARCA Late Model division.

Draco Drakul would score his third career SCRL sanctioned pole with a time of 22.727 seconds, while Friesen posted a time of 22.809 seconds, 0.082 seconds behind, placing Friesen 19th on the grid for the second rae in a row while starting last was Toledo last-place finisher the #09 Mechanical Services Inc. Pontiac of Jeff Cornils, 0.947 seconds behind Draco's time.

When the race started, Cornils would trail for the first two turns before he knocked Friesen down to last for the first lap, but entering the backstretch to begin Lap 2, the #24 Lux Enterprises / Pullen Heavy In Chevrolet of Matt McIntyre was spun out by the #28 unsponsored Ford of Fran DeVice, bringing out the first caution of the day. McIntyre would fall back to last due to the spin and would trail when the green flag came back out, McIntyre would continue to trail the field till Lap 9 when he knocked the #29 Bailey's Chevrolet of Richard Torres into last for only the third time in his series career.

Torres would continue to trail the field even through the event's second caution on Lap 13, setting up a four lap shootout. Once the green came back out, Torres worked hard to try and not finish last for the 9th time in his career, and would wait until the last second, passing Friesen down the backstretch on the very last lap to knock Friesen into the final spot over the last quarter mile and giving Frisen the second last-place finish in the past two races.

The remaining Bottom Five were: 18th was the aforementioned #24 of Matt McIntyre, 17th was Lanier last-place finisher the #53 T&K Concrete Chevrolet of Georgio Tsutomu and 16th was the the unsponsored #99 Chevrolet of John Norton.
