ARCA Late Model: Late race spin at Flat Rock gives Carter Friesen the third last-place finish of his career

Carter Friesen picked up the 1st last place finish of his SCRL ARCA Late Model Series career in Tuesday's Season 1 Flat Rock 125 at the Flat Rock Speedway when his #84 Community Pharmacies Dodge completed all 20 laps under power.

The finish came in his 6th start. In the SCRL ARCA Late Model Series, it's the 1st for car #84 and the 6th where the car was still running. Across all the series in the SCRL, it's the 4th for the #84 and the 248th where the car was still running.

Prior to signing up to compete in the ARCA's Late Model Series, Frisen had competed in several SCRL sanctioned series, and had proven himself as a winner, having visited victory lane four times in his career, but was still looking to become a household name, having also struggled in several series as well, picking up two career last-place finishes in his career. Friesen made his series debut by finishing 11th at Toledo, 6th at Wisconsin, 5th at Elko, 16th at Lanier before in the last round at Salem, Friesen would struggle and finishing a disappointing 18th place, the worst finish of his career so far in the SCRL ARCA Late Model Series.

Rookie Georgio Tsutomu would score his first career SCRL sanctioned pole with a time of 14.898 seconds, while Friesen posted a time of 15.333 seconds, 0.435 seconds behind, placing Friesen 19th on the grid while starting last was Wisconsin last-place finisher the #34 North and East Recycle Chevrolet of Hanz DeVice.

When the race started, chaos broke out almost instantly as entering Turn 1, Salem last-place finisher the #21 Drive Up Super Cleaners Chevrolet of Cole Nixey was nearly spun out by the unsponsored #99 Chevrolet of John Norton, with Nixey able to regain control while Norton tried to regain control as well, spinning into the infield before coming back across the track and hitting Nixey, creating a four car pileup. Nixey would make a pit stop the next lap to fix the damaged he received, before being sent back out onto the track with minor cosmetic damage.

When the green flag came back out, Nixey would continue to trail the field due to the damaged he had received, falling almost a second behind the closest car in front of him, with Nixey remaining in the final spot all the way up till three laps when the battle for last ended. While running in 13th, Frisen would be battle with John Norton and the #097 Dodge Dealers / UAW Dodge of Aisha Pitts, when Frisen was spun out by Pitts on the frontstretch, with Friesen passing the start/finish line as the last car, placing him last, and with the race not going to be able to get back to racing in time, Friesen would trail for the final three laps and finish last for the first time in the ARCA Late Model Series.

The remaining Bottom Five were: 19th was the #28 unsponsored Ford of Fran DeVice, 18th was the aforementioned #21 of Cole Nixey, 17th was the #7 PH Crane and Hoist Chevrolet of Kevin Cook and 16th was the #097 of Aisha Pitts
