Pritti Shah picked up the 1st last place finish of her SCRL Snap-On Tools Whelen Southern Series career in the Whelen 150 at the Ace Speedway when her #01 Marek Eng. Co. / Holmes and Bahr Chevrolet completed all 50 laps under power.
The finish came in her 12th career start. In the SCRL Snap-On Tools Whelen Southern Series, it's the 1st for car #01 and the 11th for running at the finish. Across all the series in the SCRL, it's the 3rd for the #01 and the 151st for running at the finish.
Shah is still looking to make a name for herself in the SCRL, having yet to visit victory lane despite having been completing in several series. Shah finished 12th in the first Caraway event, 4th in the second, 17th in the third, a career best 3rd in the fourth trip to Caraway and a 4th at Bowman-Gray. A disappointing finish of 17th at Martinsville, back-to-back 14th place finishes at Ace, 11th at Caraway and 5th in the last round at Caraway.
On race day, Shah would roll off from the final position and would try to gain a spot, but on the backstretch she was spun out by the #4 DMC Auto Exchange Chevrolet of Chase McDowell, as both drivers got minor cosmetic damage. Shah would remain in last during the caution laps and when the green came back out, she quickly knocked McDowell into the final spot. For McDowell his stay was brief, as the very next lap SCRLASTCAR Champion the #48 Wheelers Auto / Mr. Rooter Chevrolet of Jay Jefferson entered the battle for the first time and would trail for two laps when the #60 BC Brennenstuhl / LI Mod Manic Chevrolet of Dilan Ebrahimian into the final spot on Lap 11. Ebrahimian wasn't in last for long as the very next lap Martinsville last-place finisher the #15 TAS Country Homes Chevrolet of Jack Marks entered the battle.
Marks would remain in the last spot till Lap 17 when the #77 Curb Records / Stock Car Steel Chevrolet of Kapuel Ebai took last. Ebai would remain in last for three laps when Shah made a second appearance in the final spot on Lap 21. But once again Shah's stay was short lived as the next lap the #28 Ramar-Hall / Haydt Excavating of Trey Wright would take the final spot. Had Wright not gained any spots over the last thirty laps, it would have been his first last place finish of his career. However, Wright was motivated as he passed Shah on Lap 31 and as much as Shah tried to gain spots, she was unable to over the last twenty laps.
The remaining Bottom Five were; 19th the #77 of Kapuel Ebai, 18th was the #28 of Trey Wright, 17th was the #48 of Jay Jefferson and 16th was the #15 of Jack Marks.
The Season 1 SCRL Snap-On Tools Whelen Southern Series Championship fell to Adam McDowell, who went the entire season without a last-place finish. McDowell however did have 2 Bottom Five Finishes, and 3 Bottom Ten finishes, with his worse finish of the entire season being a 17th both times in the first Caraway and third Caraway events.
