Throwback ARCA: Early crash makes Daniel Bouchard first driver to trail field in race at Charlotte

Daniel Bouchard picked up the 1st last place finish of his SCRL Lucas Oil ARCA Racing Series career in the Season 1 #AllLivesMatter 200 at the Charlotte Motor Speedway when his #69 Tilted Kilt Pub & Eatery Ford was involved in a multi-car crash after 3 of the 40 laps.

The finish came in his 3rd career start. At the time, Bouchard was one of many drivers just looking to try and get a great run, Bouchard made his debut at Daytona, finishing 20th, and then in the next event at Atlanta, he would lead one lap on his way to finishing 12th.

On race day, Bouchard would roll off 32nd while starting last was his team mate the #68 Kimmel Racing Ford of Nick Kennedy, who worked his way into the Top 20 by the end of the first lap before chaos broke out on the Backstretch. The #06 Wayne Peterson Racing Ford of Tim Holiday was spun out, causing cars to scramble for a place to avoid the spinning car Bouchard was unable to slow down as in Turn 4 he would hit the #2 Myrtle Beach Speedway Ford of Jonathan Raines, sending Bouchard up the track and into the path of the #12 The Cove / Dolphins Awareness Dodge of Kelly Lee, who hit Bouchard in the driver's door, sending both cars for a wild spin before the #92 NTS Motorsports Chevrolet of Sammath Kennedy hit both cars as well. Bouchard's car was completely destroyed and only completed 2 laps, while Kelly and Kennedy limped past the start/finish line to be scored completing 3 laps and placed 39th and 38th.

Rounding out the Bottom Five was the #55 Venturini Motorsports Toyota of Jay Jefferson and the #00 Thunder 2 Chevrolet of Matt Johnson, who were both taken out in a Lap 19 crash while Johnson was leading, and Jefferson had nowhere to go, slamming into Johnson's driver's door, sending his car over six times before landing on all four wheels.

The finish was one of the most exciting finishes in all of SCRL ARCA history as with three to go, leader Jesse Turner broken a header, handing the lead over to Nick Kennedy, who had started last, Kennedy was able to beat Benoit Lothaire-Irvine to the line by 0.070 for his first win in the entire SCRL league.

For Bouchard, his SCRL career was like this race, flashes of talent, visiting victory lane two times in his career.
