IROC: Starting violation gives Jonathan Raines 1st IROC last-place finish in series first race at Myrtle Beach

Jonathan Raines picked up the 1st last place finish of his SCRL IROC Series career in the Race 2 at the Myrtle Beach Speedway when he completed all 20 laps under power.

The finish came in his 6th career start. In the SCRL IROC Series, it's the 1st for car #1 and the 14th for running at the finish. Across all the series in the SCRL, it's the 12th for the #1 and the 152 for running at the finish.

Raines gained entry into his second IROC Series by being a former two time champion in the SCRL, his first coming in Season 2 of the SCRL Rainbow Dash Truck Series and his second coming in Season 1 of the the SCRL Formula E Series, and has raked up 6 career wins in various series. Raines had experience in competing in the IROC Series as he raced in Season 6, with a best finish of 2nd at Talladega in his second start. Raines's Season 7 started off in a bumpy way as he was caught up in the first early crash, ending his day on Lap 3 as the series traveled for the first time to South Carolina as the series prepared to run for the first time ever on a short track at the half mile Myrtle Beach Speedway.

On race day, Raines rolled off starting 2nd while Daytona race winner the #3 of Colin Dryburgh rolled off in the final spot due to IROC Series inverting the field from the first race. As soon as the green flag was flown, the battle for last was over, as Raines jumped the start, clearing passing the #2 of Richard Torres well before the start/finish line. Raines's crew was informed by SCRL officials to tell their driver they had to give up the spot or else be black flagged, Raines would ignore the command, leading every single lap, but was given the black flag, while second place the #12 of Bulldog67 was scored the race winner, his 2nd win of his IROC career and the 15th win in his entire racing career, which ranks him sixth on the all time win list.

Rounding out the Bottom Five was: 11th the #4 of Leroy Jones, 10th the #5 of Chakat Whitelion, 9th the #6 of Draco Drakul and 8th Daytona race winner the #3 of Colin Dryburgh.
