Todd Kennedy picked up the 1st last place finish of his SCRL Wrangler Jeans Busch Grand National Series career in the Season 1 Southeastern 150 at the Bristol International Speedway when his #70 unsponsored Pontiac was involved in a multi-car crash after completing 4 of 20 laps.
The finish came in his 3rd start. Entering Season 1 of the Busch Series, Kennedy had alot of pressure on him being the brother of Nick Kennedy, who was a former champion and multiple time race winner in the SCRL. Todd's busch series career started off with a disappointing 28th at Daytona after being involved in one of the "big ones" ended his day after just seven laps. In the last round at Richmond, Todd scored his worst finish yet, a 30th.
Truttle rolled off 28th while the #42 unsponsored Pontiac of Marcus Saatchi started in the final spot. Details of the race have been lost to time, however it is known that on Lap 4 a wreck broke out in Turn 1 and Todd was unable to avoid the #04 unsponsored Pontiac of Eli Bright and damaged the radiator, ending his day just before Lap 5.
The remaining Bottom Five also struggled with the Bristol track; Finishing 41st was the #16 Bobby Cash Auto Parts Pontiac of Riley Spurlytube, the victim of a broken header on Lap 21. 40th was the #99 Washington Freightliner Pontiac of Benoit Lothaire-Irvine taken out on Lap 32, 39th was the #34 unsponsored Pontiac of Sebastian Torres, wrecked out on Lap 43 and finishing 38th was Richmond last-place finisher the #47 unsponsored Pontiac of Jesse Turner, retiring just two laps from the finish.
The SCRL Wrangler Jeans Busch Grand National Series would turn out to be the only place Todd would find success, as in his 13th career start, he started 24th at Charlotte, and moved into the lead with ten laps to go and held off Hank Willis for his first, and so far, only career SCRL sanctioned win.
