Throwback EAST: First lap wreck gives Oreius Centaur first last-place finish in the East Series at Bristol
Oreius Centaur picked up the 1st last place finish of his ONL K&N East Series career in the Pre-Season 1 Widow Wax 125 Pres. by SealWrap Repair Tape at the Bristol Speedway when his #50 Bank Street Cafe Chevrolet was involved in a multi-car crash after 1 of the 50 laps.
The finish came in his 2nd career start. Oreius Centaur is known for creating this league that has been around for five years, but back in 2014, Oreius was on the down swing of his career. While he had a great career in the Legends Series, Oreius had willingly skilled down his schedule to allow other drivers to compete, but would race in special series and decided to compete in the East Series. In a action packed race, Oreius scored the historic win and became the first driver to win in the East Series in the series debut at Daytona. Before the race even started, the field was cut from 23 cars to 22 as the #7 Woods Towing & Transportation of Draco Drakul decided to pull out from the race, deciding to run only a part-time schedule and focus only on the bigger events.
On race day, Oreius would roll off starting in the 6th spot while the #99 Boost Mobile Toyota of Dan Bandon rolled off in the last spot. By the end the first lap, chaos broke out on the backstretch as Oreius was spun out, slamming into the inside wall. Amazingly, Oreius kept on driving, but came up onto the track, right in front of the #47 PMC / Health Bridge Imaging Toyota of Devin Olasin, sending both cars into the Turn 4 head on, destroying both cars as Oreius would score his first last-place finish.
Olasin would complete one more lap before pulling into the garage, his day done, just seconds before the #22 Race Alert / Oakley Tank Lines Dodge of Jimmy Green, who also got damage in the same wreck, pulled into the garage, being scored 20th. The aforementioned #99 of Dan Bandon and the #96 Emco Gears / Blue Ox Chevrolet of Jesse Turner, both of whom was taken out in the second caution on Lap 17.
Oreius Centaur would compete for another three years, never winning a championship, but picking up 17 career wins in the SCRL, his last being in his final start, the Season 1 SCRL ARCA Truck Series California 200 at the Mesa Marin Raceway. Due to fan backlash at the league owner winning in his own league, despite the fact other league owners doing the same thing, Oreius decided to retire from ever racing again to allow others a spot. Oreius currently runs this site, the official Facebook, Twitter and YouTube channel where this league is hosted as well as competing in another YouTube league owned by Chris Kyle, aka NR Leagues, where he has over 40 career wins and is a former champion in the ISCR Lowe's Sportman Series.

Whelen: Engine failure prevents Nick Kennedy from completing at lap at Stafford; moves into 4th on the all time last-place finishing list
Nick Kennedy picked up the 1st last place finish of his SCRL Icebreakers Whelen Series career in the Axelrod Tire Modified Madness at the Stafford Motor Speedway when his #3 D & H Potato Farms Chevrolet fell out with engine problems without completing any of the 20 laps.
The finish came in his 11th career start. In the SCRL Icebreakers Whelen Series, it's the 1st for car #3 and the 2nd for engine issues. Across all the series in the SCRL, it's the 9th for the #3 and the 33rd for engine issues.
Entering Season 1 of the SCRL Icebreakers Whelen Series, Kennedy is one of the most successful drivers in league history, having scored 11 career wins, which ranks him 9th on the all time list, as well as having one championship to his credit, the Season 1 SCRL Formula One Series Championship. Kennedy's Whelen career didn't start of well, finishing 21st at Thompson, finishing 11th at Martinsville, 22nd at the first Stafford event, 12th in the second Martinsville race, 17th in the first New Egypt race, before in his 6th career start, Kennedy score his first Top 10, a 7th at Waterford. Finishes of 14th at the second New Egypt, 12th at Spencer, 20th at Riverhead and a finish of 24th in the last round at Twin State has made the season a depressing one for the former Formula One Champion.
On race day, Kennedy was scheduled to roll off starting in the 2nd spot while starting last was the #52 Dari-Farms Ice Cream of Patrick Smith, however just as the field began to roll off for the pace lap, Kennedy's car stalled on the frontstretch, preventing the high line from catching up to the leaders when the green came out. Kennedy's car was towed back to the garage and by Lap 3 it was determined the #3 has a engine failure, their day done without completing a single foot.
Just seconds after the #3 of Nick Kennedy would have problems, the #0 Stakey's Pumpkins / Jessup Chevrolet of Carter Friesen suffered valve problems and also stalled up on the start, his car towed back and was listed as "out" by Lap 4, but was listed as also not completing a lap, but was scored higher then Kennedy.
Rounding out the Bottom Five were drivers who finished a lap behind the race winner; 22nd was New Egypt last-place finisher the #11 Marek Engineering Chevrolet of Evan Hunter, 21st was Riverhead last-place finisher the #99 Gearhart Chevrolet of Joshua Rush and 20th was the #71 Draco / Purple Spring / Fluidyne Chevrolet of Daniel Bouchard.

*This was the first time two cars failed to complete a lap since a "big one" struck in the opening seconds of the Season 2 Coca-Cola 200 at the North Wilkesboro Speedway, causing five drivers to fail to complete a lap.

21) #99-Joshua Rush / 19 laps / running
20) #71-Daniel Bouchard / 19 laps / running

Whelen: Hard late race crash gives Joshua Rush first last-place finish of his career at Riverhead
Joshua Rush picked up the 1st last place finish of his SCRL Icebreakers Whelen Series career in the Winston 125 at the Riverhead Raceway when his #99 Gearhart Chevrolet was involved in a single-car crash after completing 13 of 22 laps.
The finish came in his 9th career start. In the SCRL Icebreakers Whelen Series, it's the 1st for car #99 and the 4th from a crash. Across all the series in the SCRL, it's the 8th for the #99 and the 194th from a crash.
Entering Season 1 of the SCRL Icebreakers Whelen Series, Joshua has raked up success in the SCRL, having four career wins to date and had high hopes for the brand new Whelen Series after scoring two wins in Season 2 of the SCRL Wrangler Jeans Busch Grand National Series and finishing 14th in points. Rush's Whelen career started off with an impressive 6th place finish at Thompson and while he struggled at Martinsville and Stafford, a return trip to Martinsville netted him his first Top 5 finish with an impressive 5th. Rush would enter another slump, finishing 21st in the first ever dirt event at New Egypt, a 17th at Waterford, a 22nd at the second New Egypt and a 16th in the last round at Spencer.
On race day, Rush would roll off starting in the 5th spot while starting last was the #52 Dari-Farms Ice Cream of Patrick Smith. Smith would trail the field for the first lap before the #0 Stakey's Pumpkins / Jessup Chevrolet of Carter Friesen took last on Lap 2, but one lap later the #43 Supreme Mfg. Co. Chevrolet of Marko Tellez entered the battle as he trailed the next two laps before Thompson last-place finisher the #59 Space Fitters / Ed Bennett Prop. Chevrolet of Zachary Fitzwater fell back on Lap 6 and trailed till Lap 9. New Egypt last-place finisher the #11 Marek Engineering Chevrolet of Evan Hunter entered the battle on Lap 10 and trailed the next two laps. At this point the battle was still wide open when the first caution came out when Fitzwater and Stafford last-place finisher the #50 SMG Motoring Chevrolet of Samet Ozkan wrecked hard in Turn 3. Ozkan would lose a lap and appeared on his way to his second last-place finish of the season but the battle was quickly ended two laps later.
Rush at this point had also lost a lap but was able to pass the race leaders to get himself back on the lead lap and was hoping for a caution to rejoin the tail of the field, but on Lap 13 he entered Turn 2 too fast, the car drifted up the track and he nailed the wall at the end of pit road head on, completely destroying his car. The driver was able to climb from his car, shaken, but not injured, but his car was done for the day.
Finishing 23rd was the aforementioned #50 of Samet Ozkan, who suffered a blown engine during the final caution laps before the race was extended by rule of the Green, White, Checkered. 24th was the aforementioned #11 of Evan Hunter, who was caught up in the final caution and was unable to compete in the GWC due to not finishing on the lead lap.

Throwback CANADA: Amir Allen-Park trails field in caution filled race at Cayuga
Amir Allen-Park picked up the 1st last place finish of his ONL Canadian Tire Series career in the Pre-Season 1 Crown Jewel 200 at the Cayuga International Speedway when his #21 A&W / Bower & Wilkins Dodge was involved in a multi-car crash after 10 of the 20 laps.
The finish came in his 2nd career series start. After finishing a disappointing 24th in the series debut at Mosport, Park was looking to rebound as the series moved to their first ever stop at a short track, the 0.625 mile track in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada at the Cayuga International Speedway.
On race day, Olasin would roll off the field starting 3rd while the #09 Lake Excavating Ford of Heisenberg would trail the field as the green flag flew. There would be three cautions throughout the day, during the second one the #97 Vannini Motorsports Ford of Axel Simmons made contact with Park, sending both cars into the Turn 2 wall, causing Park to flip over four times as more cars were involved, with Park being scored in last place.
Finishing 28th and 27th was the #76 Rev Energy / Direct Buy / Get-A-Grip Tire Chevrolet of Alex Tanker and the #39 Motos Illimitees / DLGL / Polaris Dodge of John Green, both of whom was involved in the same Lap 10 crash.
Rounding out the Bottom Five 26th was the #4 Fitzpatrick Motorsports Chevrolet of Oreius Centaur and finishing 25th was the aforementioned #97 of Axel Simmons, themselves taken out in a Lap 16 crash that would end the race under the yellow flag.
Amir Allen-Park's time in the then ONL, now the SCRL, lasted only two races before never signing up for a league race again. This would be the last race of the division as the series was canceled and put on hold, being rebranded into the SCRL Tim Hortons Canadian Series.
