Throwback MEXICO: Nick Kennedy becomes first driver to trail in back-to-back races in the Mexico Series after broken camshaft problems at Central Texas; becomes first driver to fail to complete a lap

Nick Kennedy picked up the 2nd last place finish of his SCRL Telcel Mexico Series career in the Season 1 Allstate Texas Thunder 150 at the Central Texas Speedway when his #28 Policia Federal Dodge suffered camshaft problems without completing any of the 20 laps.

The finish came in his 2nd career series start, was his first on the circuit since he was knocked out in a multi-car crash after 4 of 34 laps at Phoenix, 1 race ago. After finishing dead last at Phoenix after a hard crash, Kennedy's team was looking to rebound as the series visited a short track for the very first time.

On race day, Kennedy was scheduled to roll off the pit road 4th while the #46 Avaya / Axtel X-Tremo Toyota of Connor Hurley would start last. As the field made it's parade lap, Kennedy's car began to smoke and the driver turned hard right into the garage area, his team reporting that the camshaft was broken and would prevent Kennedy from even completing a lap. Oddly enough, at the same time the #3 Telcel / Samsung Toyota of Morgan McPherson would also stall up on pit road, reporting of an engine problem as the team worked all race long to get their driver out, which they did on the final lap, making McPherson be scored higher then Kennedy, but was not able to complete a lap as well.

Finishing 10th was another car who struggled to even get going, the #2 Arris Toyota of Steve Morgan suffered mechanical problems all race long, but he was able to limp out onto the track in time to be scored completing one lap.

Rounding out the Bottom Five was two drivers who finished on the same lap as the race leaders; in 9th was the #31 54D Chevrolet of Rocco Twyman and 8th was the #1 FedEx Toyota of Simon Fox.

Today, Nick Kennedy is one of the longest active drivers in the SCRL, having picked up 11 career wins and is a former champion in the SCRL Formula One Series Presented by Red Bull.
