The finish came in his 3rd career start. In the SCRL Icebreakers Whelen Series, it's the 1st for car #50 and the 1st for running at the finish. Across all the series in the SCRL, it's the 7th for the #50 and 123rd for running at the finish.
Entering Season 1 of the Whelen Series, Samet Ozkan is coming off the best season of his career in Season 2 of the SCRL Wrangler Jeans Busch Grand National Series as Ozkan scored his first career SCRL sanctioned win at the Richmond Fairgrounds. In his Whelen debut, Ozkan finished 12th at Thompson and then 10th in the last round at Martinsville heading into the first ever event at Stafford.
On race day, Ozkan would roll off starting in the 2nd spot while the #88 Buzz Chez Chevrolet / GT Vodka of Dexter Black would roll off last but he wouldn't stay there for long. At the drop of the green flag, Ozkan's car stalled on the track causing the entire high line to fall behind as Okzan's car was towed to pit road, the team reporting of a flat left front tire. Ozkan was able to get back onto the track a lap down and due to no cautions coming out, the last-place finish was his.
The remaining Bottom Five finished on the same lap as the race leaders; 23rd was the #48 A-Best Forklift Chevrolet of Bafode Sacko, who jumped the start and was given a black flag for not given back the spot, 22nd was the #3 D & H Potato Farms Chevrolet of Nick Kennedy, 21st was Thompson last-place finisher the #59 Space Fitters / Ed Bennett Prop. Chevrolet of Zachary Fitzwater and finishing 20th was the #23 unsponsored Chevrolet of Cole Nixey.
