CUP: Early crash at Daytona Beach gives Chase Miller the second ever last-place finish of his SCRL career

Chase Miller picked up the 1st last place finish of his SCRL Grand National Series career at Beach & Road Course when his #44 Daytona Motors Cadillac was involved in a two-car accident after he completed 2 of the 10 laps.

The finish came in his 1st career series start. In the SCRL Grand National Series, it's the 1st for car #44 and the 4th from a crash. Across all the series in the SCRL, it's the 8th for the #44 and 281st from a crash.

Chase is still a rookie in the SCRL, having made his debut in the inaugural SCRL CART Series, a season in which he completed in all 14 races and finished 8th in points. Chase would come back and completed in Season 3 of the SCRL Busch Grand National Series, finishing 3rd in points. After having finishing in the Top 10 in both series in points, Chase had yet to score a win in his SCRL career and was looking to change that in the second ever Cup Series season based on the actual 1950 NASCAR Grand National Series season.

The entry list for the second ever trip to the Beach & Road Course as all 42 drivers would complete as well as the defending SCRL Strictly Stock Series Champion Sebastian Torres

In qualifying, Roger James would score his first career pole with a lap time of 151.354 seconds. Chase would performance decent in qualifying, posting a time of 153.821, a full 2.467 seconds off James's pole, placing him 19th overall. Starting last in the race was the #20 Oldsmobile of Kaitlyn Coyne who posted a time of 173.048 seconds, a full 21.694 seconds behind James's pole winning time after he spun out in Turn 1 and had trouble getting going in the dirt.

Sage Griffin stalls at the start.
On race day as the field began their lone pace lap, the #22 Parks Novelty Oldsmobile of Sage Griffin would stall on the backstretch and would have to be towed to pit road and would be sitting there as the field went to green. At the same time, the #7 Bob Flock Garage Oldsmobile of Patrick White slowed on the track due to a flat tire, and had to limp around the 4.170 mile road course while Griffin's team was able to send their driver back out onto the track and actually passed White, who would get back out on the track and was running, trailing the first two laps when the battle for last quickly ended.

While battling for 5th the #24 Pontiac of Nathan Ormond made contact with the #6 Fabulous Hudson Hornet Hudson of Nick Kennedy, sending both cars into the inside wall that was made up of wooden planks. Kennedy would regain control of his car and pulled back out onto the track right in front of the path of the #48 Ford of Jay Jefferson, as Jay had nowhere to go and slammed into the back of Kennedy, nearly sending Kennedy for a flip, while Chase was about to avoid the crash but ran into the left side of Jefferson's car with enough force that his day was over, limping back to the pit road, Chase, Jay the #41 Lincoln of Christian Vargas and the aforementioned #6 of Nick Kennedy would all be scored having completed two laps, but the final position was given to Miller.

Rounding out the Bottom Five in 38th was the #2 Cadillac of Tyler Mills, who was also involved in the crash, was able to limp around for an additional lap to make sure he wouldn't finish last, before pulling behind the pit road wall, with water visibly leaking from the radiator.
