BUSCH: Caution free race at Hickory ends with Chase Miller getting the first last-place finish of his SCRL career

Chase Miller picked up the 1st last place finish of his SCRL Busch Grand National Series career in Tuesday's Yount 200 at the Hickory Motor Speedway when his #15 Hendrick Honda Pontiac completed all 20 laps under power.

The finish occurred in his 14th career series start. In the SCRL Busch Series, it's the 3rd for car #15 and the 30th for running at the finish. Across all the series in the SCRL, it's the 11th for the #15 and 297th for running at the finish.

Entering Season 3 of the Busch Series, Chase is still looking to make a name for himself. As a driver who made his debut in the Snowflake 100, Chase has one full time season under his belt in the SCRL CART Series, a series he finished 8th overall in points. For his first ever season in the Busch Series, Chase would sign on to drive for team owner Rick Hendrick, with Chase's first race coming at Daytona, a race he would impress in and finished runner up to Christian Russel. A 13th at Richmond, would be followed by his second ever Top 10, a 10th at Rockingham, before scoring his second runner up by finishing second to Chakat Whitelion in the first Hickory event. A 4th at Martinsville, would be followed by a 12th at Darlington, 19th at Orange County, 23rd at Nashville, 11th at Langley, 16th at Milwaukee Mile, 10th at Dover, 21st at Charlotte before finishing 23rd in the last round at South Boston.

The entry list for the sixth time this season would have only full time drivers as the series returned to Hickory, North Carolina in the series second of four planned stops at the 0.363 mile short track in Season 3.

In qualifying, Season 1 Champion Jack Lagasee won his third career busch pole with a lap time of 17.048 seconds. Chase would have a good result in qualifying, posting a time of 17.230, 0.182 seconds off Jack's pole, placing him 10th overall. Starting last in the race would be the #30 RC Cola Pontiac of Chakat Duskwatcher who posted a time of 17.410 seconds, 0.362 seconds behind Jack's pole winning time.

On race day, Duskwatcher would trail for the first lap before knocking Darlington last-place finisher the #6 Mason Day Paving / Valvoline Chevrolet of Chris Kyle into the final spot on Lap 2, a position he would hold for only one lap before knocking the #11 Fast Fare / Skoal Bandit Pontiac of Al Lagasee into last on Lap 3. Al would trail for two laps before knocking the #88 Service Specialties Pontiac of Rohan Marmot into last on Lap 5. Rohan's stay in last would also only last for two laps before he knocked the #42 Benefit Development Pontiac of Jake Thomas into last on Lap 7. Thomas would remain in last for only one lap, before he would pass the #54 Burger King Buick of Ty Dent into last on Lap 8. Dent would trail for two laps before knocking first Hickory last-place finisher the #07 Bob Banning Pontiac of Jeff White into last on Lap 10, before he would knock Miller back to last for the first time on Lap 12. Miller would trail for two laps before knocking the #12 unsponsored Ellis Racing Pontiac of Tyler Mills into last on Lap 14. Mills would remain in last for two laps before passing Thomas and putting him last on Lap 17, but Thomas would fight back and put Mills back into last the very next lap, with Mills remaining in last until the final turn on the last lap, when he knocked Chase back to last for the first time in his career.
