CUP: Nick Kennedy goes for a wild tumble at Langhorne; now tied with Cole Nixey for second most last-place finishes in a SCRL career

Nick Kennedy picked up the 1st last place finish of his SCRL Grand National Series career in the Race 3 at the Langhorne Speedway when his #6 Fabulous Hudson Hornet Hudson was involved in a multi-car accident after he completed 3 of the 15 laps.

The finish came in his 10th career series start. In the SCRL Grand National Series, it's the 1st for car #6 and the 5th from a crash. Across all the series in the SCRL, it's the 20th for the #6 and 282nd from a crash.

Entering his second ever Cup Series season, Nick Kennedy has already built a Hall of Fame career, having visited victory lane 16 times in his career, being one of only three drivers to win a record three races in a row and of course winning the SCRL Formula One Championship. After finishing 26th in the SCRL Busch Grand National Series Season 3, Kennedy signed on to once again race full time in the cup series, this time choosing to sign with the powerful Hudson racing team that would debut their Fabulous Hudson Hornet. Kennedy's second season would not get off to a great start as he finished 39th at Daytona Beach after being caught up in the Lap 2 crash and would finish 17th in the last round at Charlotte.

The entry list for the second time this season would be the full 42 car field with both full and part-time drivers racing on the challenging and demanding one mile track in Langhorne, Pennsylvania.

In qualifying, rookie Bruce Webster would score his first career pole with a time of 25.934 seconds. Kennedy would post a time of 25.993, only 0.059 seconds off Webster's time, placing Kennedy in 10th, the best starting position of the season. Starting last in the race was the #2 Cadillac of Tyler Mills, who posted a time of 26.106, 0.172 seconds behind Webster's pole winning time.

On race day, Mills would struggle around the near perfect circle of a track, trailing for the first two laps until the battle for last suddenly came to an end. As the #16 Plymouth of Sebastian Torres raced with the #41 Eanes Motor Co. Oldsmobile of Christian Vargas, sending both cars up the train and starting a chain reaction as the #42 Petty Special Plymouth of Dallas Jordan, the #65 Ford of Brandon Mayhew and the #7 Bob Flock Garage Oldsmobile of Patrick White would all get involved in the crash heading into Turn 1. As the field raced past the spun out cars, the #59 Lincoln of Zachary Fitzwater and the #87 Griffin Motors / Darlington Intl. Raceway Oldsmobile of Doug Hart made contact and would long fenders, sliding up the track right in front of Kennedy, who had nowhere to go, and would hit the wall nearly head on, before going into a tumble, with his car flipping two and a half times before landing on it's roof. Kennedy was able to climb from his car and was uninjured, but his car was done for the day, listed as "out" by the 7th lap.

It would take only two more laps before the next two spots would be filled as Patrick White was racing with the #89 Ford of Austin Hiller, with the two cars making contact with White being spun 180 degrees and facing on coming traffic. While most drivers was able to avoid White, the #41 of Christian Vargas was stuck on the high side and had nowhere to go, hitting White head on. While both drivers were alright after the hard hit, both cars was done for the day, being listed as 41st and 40th and having completed 9 laps.

Rounding out the Bottom Five were drivers who finished on the same lap as the race leaders; 39th was the aforementioned #59 of Zachary Fitzwater and 38th was the #87 of Doug Hart.
