Winnie Calhoun picked up the 1st last place finish of his SCRL Grand National Series career in Race 14 at the Langhorne Speedway when his #92 Plymouth completed all 15 laps under power.
The finish came in his 5th career series start. In the SCRL Grand National Series, it's the 1st for car #92 and the 11th for running at the finish. Across all the series in the SCRL, it's the 6th for the #92 and 315th for running at the finish.
Winnie made his SCRL debut in the league's first ever SCRL Snowball Derby back in December, finishing 19th in his first ever race. Winnie would take a eight month break before making another attempt in a SCRL field, signing up to complete part-time in his first ever Cup season, competing in only the high paying events. Winnie would finish 25th in his first ever cup series start at Daytona Beach, before skipping the next round at Charlotte before coming back to finish 31st at Langhorne. Winnie's team would then go on a six race break before coming back at Hillsborough, finishing a career best 15th and after skipping the next two races at Dayton and Hamburg, Winnie would improve on his career best, finishing 13th in the last round at Darlington.
The entry list for the fifth time this season would be the full 42 car field with both full and part-time drivers racing.
In qualifying, Brandon Mayhew would score his first career pole a time of 29.504 seconds. Winnie would struggle around the one mile track, posting a time of 29.847, 0.343 seconds off Mayhew's time, placing Winnie 30th, the second worst starting spot all season long. Starting last in the race was the #38 Lincoln of Chase Abbott, who posted a time of 30.102, 0.598 seconds behind Mayhew's pole winning time.
On race day, Abbott would trail for the first two laps before knocking the Moyer Co. Lincoln of Brian Fox into last on Lap 3. Fox's stay in the final spot would last only one lap before knocking the #12 Mercury of Carlos Rodriguez into last. Rodriguez would trail for two laps before knocking two time last-place finisher the #97 Mercury of Brent Davison into last on Lap 6. Davison would trail for two laps as well before knocking the #22 Parks Novelty Oldsmobile of Sage Griffin on Lap 8. Griffin would trail for two laps as well before he knocked Winnie into last for the first time. Winnie would struggle over the final five laps to try and not trail for the first time in his career, but was unable to when the checkered flag waved.
Rounding out the Bottom Five were: 41st was the #7 Bob Flock Garage Oldsmobile of Patrick White, 40th was the #14 Lincoln of Chris Kyle, 39th was the aforementioned #97 of Brent Davison and 38th was the #22 Parks Novelty Oldsmobile of Sage Griffin.
