CUP: Rookie Bruce Webster becomes the first driver to trail in back-to-back cup series races in second straight caution free race at Canfield

Bruce Webster picked up the 2nd last place finish of his SCRL Grand National Series career in the Poor Man's 500 at the Canfield Speedway when his #9 Plymouth completed all 20 laps under power.

The finish, which came in his 5th career series start, was his first on the circuit since Race 4 at the Martinsville Speedway when he completed all 50 laps under power; 1 race ago. In the SCRL Grand National Series, it's the 2nd for car #9 and the 6th for running at the finish. Across all the series in the SCRL, it's the 10th for the #9 and 310th for running at the finish.

After trailing for the first time in his SCRL career, Bruce's team packed up their equipment and drove from Martinsville, Virginia to Canfield, Ohio for the second race in a row to be held on a half mile dirt track.

The entry list for the third time this season would be only the part-time drivers, as the track wasn't big enough to fit all the full and part-time drivers.

In qualifying, Joe Jefferson would score his first career pole with a time of 21.020 seconds. Webster would post a time of 21.566, 0.546 seconds off Jefferson's time, placing him in 26th, the worst starting position of the season for him. Starting last in the race was the #48 Ford of Jay Jefferson, who posted a time of 21.667, 0.647 seconds behind Jefferson's pole winning time.

On race day, Jay would struggle to get going around the bumpy half mile track, trailing by almost a full half second to the closest car in front of him, while Webster went the other way, falling back and from 26th, before finally on Lap 6, Jay knocked Bruce into last place. Much like with at Martinsville, once in the last place, Bruce would stay there, falling a full fifteen seconds behind the race leaders when the checkered flag waved.

Rounding out the Bottom Five were; 29th was the #2 Cadillac of Tyler Mills, 28th was the aforementioned #48 of Jay Jefferson, 27th was the #87 Griffin Motors / Darlington Intl. Raceway Oldsmobile of Doug Hart and 26th was the #97 of Brent Davison.
