When the race started, Hayden's time in the final spot would be brief as he quickly knocked Toledo last-place finisher the #72 Top Choice Lumber Products Chevrolet of Ryan Benjamin into last, but the very next lap it was the #97 John Deere Ford of Joshua Rush who fell to last and would trail for two straight laps before he knocked Benjamin back into last on Lap 4. Benjamin once again wasn't content to finishing last again, knocking Rush back to last on Lap 5, who would trail for another two laps before knocking Dent back to last for the first time on Lap 7. Carol would trail for the next three laps before knocking Lucas Oil last-place finisher the #36 O'Reilly Toyota of Derrick Edison into the final spot on Lap 11. Edison would struggle around the half mile track to try and stay in the draft, but the final two laps he finally had worked back up and just after the white flag, he would pass Dent in Turn 1 and would hold her off the final half mile to prevent finishing last for the second time in  four races, while Carol got her first of her career.

ARCA Late Model: Race long battle for the final spot ends with Franz DeVice last at South Boston

Franz DeVice picked up the 1st last place finish of his SCRL ARCA Late Model Series career in Friday's Season 1 South Boston 200 at the South Boston Speedway when his unsponsored #28 Ford completed all 20 laps under power.

The finish came in his 9th career series start. In the SCRL ARCA Late Model Series, it's the 1st for car #28 and the 9th where the car was still running. Across all the series in the SCRL, it's the 13th for the #28 and the 257th where the car was still running.

Entering the brand new year of racing, Franz joined his brother Hanz by competing in the ACRA's division fourth lowest division, in a attempt to make a name for himself as well as his brother. Franz would finish 18th in his stock car debut at Toledo, a impressive 4th at Wisconsin, 6th at Elko, 8th at Lanier, 7th at Salem, 19th at Flat Rock, 10th at Nashville before finishing 10th in the last round at Louisville.

In qualifying Richard Torres would score his first career series pole with a time of 17.533, and Franz would post a time that placed him 9th on the grid. But the real story of the day was when a total of seven cars had trouble making it through inspection in time and was never giving a chance to qualify, with none being able to get on track in time, so that meant that the #48 Spray Paint and Equipment Chevrolet of Shannon Lowe, would start last when the race started.

The drop of the green flag would start one of the most competitive battles for the final spot in series history as Lowe would quickly knock the unsponsored #99 Chevrolet of John Norton into last by the backstretch with Norton holding on last till lap 4 when he knocked the #13 Menards Chevrolet of Draco Drakul in last. Draco's stay in the final spot lasted only two laps as he knocked Toledo last-place finisher the #09 Mechanical Services Inc. McIntyre would stay in last for only one lap before he passed John Norton, but just like before, Norton's stay in last was only two laps when he knocked the #097 Dodge Dealers / UAW Dodge of Aisha Pitts into last on Lap 13. Pitts would be determined to not finish last for the first time in her career, and just two laps later would knock DeVice into last for the first time, and as much as he tried to gain a spot over the next five laps around the 0.400 mile short track, DeVice wouldn't and finished last for the first time in his short career.

ARCA: Broken header prevents Sebastian Cucalon from completing a lap in wreck filed race at Pocono

Sebastian Cucalon picked up the 1st last place finish of his SCRL Lucas Oil ARCA Racing Series career in the Wednesday's Pocono ARCA 200 at the Pocono Raceway when his #19 Battomi-Lawton Insurance Dodge fell out with header problems without completing any of the 22 laps.

Entering Season 3 of the SCRL Lucas Oil ARCA Racing Series, Cucalon was entering only his second ever full time season, having previously competed in the SCRL Formula 3 division, the sight of his lone last-place finish to date at Monza, in a season where he would score a best finish of 2nd at Hockenheimring and would finish 11th in the overall point standings. Traveling back across the Atlantic Ocean, Cucalon would sign up to compete in his first ever stock car series in the SCRL's ARCA division in a hopes of gaining more experience and possibly that first career win. In his ARCA debut, Cucalon would once again impress, finishing 3rd in his first start at the historic Daytona International Speedeway. A poor finish of 28th at Atlanta in the next round would lead to Cucalon rebounding with a 4th at Nashville, struggling to a 39th at Salem before scoring two back-to-back Top 10 finishes, a 5th at Talladega and a 6th at Charlotte before finishing 35th in the last round at Gateway.

Just seconds after the field rolled off pit road, a few rain drops would drove on the track, preventing the race from starting for at least one lap. As the field entered Turn 3 to get the one to go signal, Cucalon's car started to smoke as he pulled to the inside of the track to try and get onto pit road, but he had missed the entrance. Cucalon's car slowed as he entered Turn 1 becoming stalls on the apron. Despite the car sitting on the track, the officials did not postpone the start of the race as Cucalon's car was quickly towed off the track and back to the garage

With Cucalon's car behind the wall, the field would be given the green flag, but it wasn't long before chaos broke out as the unsponsored #43 David Levine Racing Dodge of Pria McShane would be spun out in Turn 1 after contact from points leader the #52 Federated Auto Parts Chevrolet of Blaise Zebrataur and would slide up the track and back into the outside wall, causing severe right side and rear damage to her car. McShane would coast back to the pits and then behind the wall, her day done after completing one lap, but would not take the final spot as Cucalon's car would be listed as "out" on Lap 3.

It would take another nine laps before The remaining Bottom Five would be filled up by the event's three caution of the day, which would be the event's first "Big One"; 38th was the #97 Union Bank / Roadrunner the Movie Dodge of Ricky Logan, 37th was the #48 Radon.com Ford of Brian Fox and 36th was the #44 Ansell / Menards Toyota of Riley Spurlytube, all being scored having completed 10 laps.

Throwback BUSCH: James Barker involved in early crash in LCQ at Richmond

James Barker picked up the 1st last place finish of his SCRL Wrangler Jeans Busch Grand National Series career in the Season 1 Spring 220 at the Richmond Fairgrounds Raceway when his #63 Ashby Sheet Metal & Machine Shop Pontiac was involved in a multi-car crash after 8 of the 25 laps.

The finish came in his 9th start.

Entering Season 1 of the Busch Series, Barker was part of the Barker family, along with Jay and Josh, that was looking to make a name for themselves in the SCRL. In his first start for the series, Barker finished a disappointing 33rd after being caught up in the race's second "big one", a 37th at the first Richmond, before scoring a league and series best finish of 4th at Bristol. A 27th at Martinsville, 21st at Darlington, 28th at Hickory, 37th at South Boston and a 15th in the last round at Caraway, started off a rough first quarter of the season for Barker, who was looking to rebound in the return trip to Richmond.

For the second race in a row, the Richmond track not being big enough to fit all forty two cars, the field was split into two parts, the first thirty five drivers would race in the main event while the remaining 7 drivers raced in a LCQ(Last Chance Qualifier) to see who would advance.

On race day, Barker would roll off starting in the 11th spot while starting last was first Hickory last-place finisher the unsponsored #7 Pontiac of Truttle. The first six laps was run caution free, but on Lap 7 the battle for last ended, as Bristol last-place finisher the unsponsored #70 Pontiac of Todd Kennedy, got loose coming out of Turn 4 and hit the guard rail, spinning out on the frontstretch. Baker was nearly three seconds behind and tried to go to the high side to get by, but there wasn't enough room, slamming hard into the back of Kennedy. Barker's front end was caved in and the radiator was damaged, his front end completely destroyed. ARCA: Camshaft problems prevents veteran Tony Newman from completing a lap at Gateway

Tony Newman picked up the 1st last place finish of his SCRL Lucas Oil ARCA Racing Series career in the Season 3 Shop n' Save 150 at the Gateway International Raceway when his #11 Hudson Perf / Drivelines / Warrick Tubing Dodge fell out with camshaft problems without completing any of the 22 laps.

The finish came in his 27th start. In the SCRL Lucas Oil ARCA Racing Series, it's the 1st for car #11 and the 2nd for camshaft issues. Across all the series in the SCRL, it's the 12th for the #11 and the 32nd for camshaft issues.

Entering Season 3 of the SCRL Lucas Oil ARCA Racing Series, Newman has found success in his SCRL career, having won 7 career wins, including one in the ARCA Series at Michigan in Season 2, and has one career SCRL Championship, coming in Season 1 of the SCRL Sun Energy Whelen Euro Elite 1 Series. Newman started off his second ever season in the ARCA series by finishing a disappointing 36th at Daytona, before rebounding with a 7th at Atlanta. A 18th at Nashville Fairgrounds and a 9th at Salem before being crashed out at Talladega, 13th, and Charlotte, 38th as the series returned to Gateway for the third season in a row, a track that Newman had finished 13th at in Season 2.

In qualifying, Anthony Logan scored his first career series pole with a time of 32.244 seconds with Newman posting a time of 32.551 seconds, 0.307 behind Logan's pole run, placing Newman 24th on the grid while starting last was the #1 ModSpace Ford of Truttle.

Just seconds after the field rolled off pit road, Newman pulled to the inside of the track, as the car started to instantly began to smoke, staying well below the racing line to prevent any oil from getting onto the track, with Newman reporting that the engine was done, as he followed the pace car down pit road and then back that sharp left turn into the garage as the field took the green flag. Newman's crew would work hard to try and at least send their driver back out onto the track and complete a lap, but the damage had been down, with Newman's car being listed as "out" on Lap 3.

Just two laps before Newman's car was retired, the first caution of the day would come out with Nashville last-place finisher unsponsored #67 Kimmel Racing Ford of Oriana Dent and the unsponsored #54 Kurzejewski Motorsports Dodge of Arina McShane would both be knocked out of the race, being scored having completed one lap.

The remaining Bottom Five would be involved in the event's second caution of the day as pole sitter the #15 Zaxby's Toyota of Anthony Logan would crash while leading coming off Turn 4 and would be ran into by points leader the #52 Federated Auto Parts Chevrolet of Blaise Zebrataur, ending both cars night after six laps, with Logan having led every lap he completed until the crash happened.

ARCA Trucks: Jimmy Potter trails for the 4th time in his SCRL career thanks to late flat tire at Oxford Plains

Jimmy Potter picked up the 1st last place finish of his SCRL ARCA Truck Series career in Tuesday's Season 2 Oxford 50 at the Oxford Plains Speedway when his #50 Corona Extra / Goosebumps Ford finished under power after 27 of 30 laps.

The finish came in his 19th start. In the SCRL ARCA Truck Series, it's the 1st for truck #50 and the 11th where the truck was still running. Across all the series in the SCRL, it's the 8th for the #50 and the 252nd where the vehicle was still running.

Entering Season 2 of the SCRL's ARCA Truck Series, Potter was one of a few select drivers who had previously raced in the series, having won the series 5th race at Gateway on the path to finishing 16th in the final points standings. Potter would decided to come back and compete for another shot at the championship, choosing to resign and drive for the same team he had in season one. Potter's season got off to a rocky start with a finish of 22nd in the first round at Toledo but he quickly rebounded by leading 14 of the 25 laps and scoring his third career SCRL sanctioned win, and become the first driver to win in both season of the SCRL ARCA Truck Series. The next two rounds with be a struggle for Potter with finishes of 24th at Nashville and a 21st at Lanier. Potter would once again find his footing with a 11th at Flat Rock and then a 6th in the last round at Salem as the series rolled into Oxford, Maine, the site where Potter had finished 12th at one season ago.

In qualifying, Potter would struggled to gain any speed, posting a time of 19.404, 0.941 seconds behind Al Lagasee's pole winning time, placing Potter last on the starting line up.

When the command was given to start the engines, the unsponsored #27 Chevrolet of Kyle Patricks would pull onto pit road on the backstretch, reporting of a flat right rear tire. Patricks crew would quickly give their driver a set of four fresh tires before sending their driver back out on the track just as the green flag waved but hadn't done it fast enough as their driver was quickly lapped. Patricks would get a lucky break as a caution came out when two leaders spun out, giving Patricks a chance to get his lap back, which he would when yet another caution came out on Lap 16, at this point Patricks had already knocked the #4 unsponsored Chevrolet of Gatlin Downey down a lap when he too suffered a flat tire.

Downey's stay in the final spot would last eight laps and only ended when the green flag was brought back out, Potter was racing for the 15th position when he began to slow going into turn 4, spinning out briefly, before coasting back around to the pits, the third victim of a flat tire thanks to a tough track surface. Potter's team would struggle getting the truck onto the jack and was quickly lapped once and then twice, taking the final spot on Lap 21, before it was finally put on and the tires placed on the truck. Potter was sent back out onto the track just behind the race leaders, his only hope was having someone else had problems, but it was not to be, placing Potter last in the final rundown, two laps behind Downey who was able to prevent himself from finishing last thanks to Potter's flat tire, but unable to escape finishing 25th.

The remaining Bottom Five would finish on the same lap as the race leaders: 24th was the aforementioned #27 of Kyle Patricks, 23rd was the unsponsored #17 Chevrolet of Connor Hurley and 22nd was the #72 Big Blue Dodge of Chakat Duskwatcher.

While battling for 4th, the #55 IWX Racing / Jesel Chevrolet of Bulldog67 had gone wild in Turn 4 the previous lap and smacked the outside wall and was trying to get back into a rhythm, but coming down the backstretch, Bulldog67 made contact with Lucas Oil last-place finisher the #36 O'Reilly Toyota of Derrick Edison, sending both cars for a spin and starting a multi-car pileup, with both cars sliding down the track, Olsen tried to avoid the crash, only to run head on into Edison's car, destroying both cars, Olsen would limp back to pit road and into the garage, done for the day after three laps, while Edison would make one more circuit before he pulled behind the wall, following by the #79 Auto Value / Bumper To Bumper / Lucas Oil Dodge of Kenny Webster, both Edison and Webster being scored competing 4 laps.
