ARCA Sportsman: Battle for last doesn't end until last lap at Winchester; Carol Dent gets the first last place finish of her career

Carol Dent picked up the 1st last place finish of her SCRL ARCA Sportsman Series career in Saturday's Season 1 Winchester 200 at the Winchester Speedway when her #7 Miccosukee Resorts & Gaming Chevrolet completed all 20 laps under power.

The finish came in his 7th start. In the SCRL ARCA Sportsman Series, it's the 1st for car #7 and the 4th where the car was still running. Across all the series in the SCRL, it's the 13th for the #7 and the 258th where the car was still running.

Carol Dent had only one previous season under her belt before signing up to complete in the ARCA Sportsman Series, that being the SCRL Formula 2 division where in just her 12th start, Carol got her first career SCRL win at Circuit de Nevers - Magny-Cours and would finish 3rd in the overall point standings. Back in the states, Carol would finish 22nd in her debut at Toledo, 19th at Mansfield, 16th at the series first ever road course event at Heartland Park, 13th at Lucas Oil, 18th at Iowa before finishing 9th in the last round at Rockingham.

In qualifying Muhammad Zain Abdullah scored his first career series pole while , Dent would post a time of 17.806 seconds, 0.372 seconds behind Abdullah's pole winning time, placing Dent 26th while starting last was the #32 Baldwin Filters / Comp USA Toyota of Maxwell Hayden.

When the race started, Hayden's time in the final spot would be brief as he quickly knocked Toledo last-place finisher the #72 Top Choice Lumber Products Chevrolet of Ryan Benjamin into last, but the very next lap it was the #97 John Deere Ford of Joshua Rush who fell to last and would trail for two straight laps before he knocked Benjamin back into last on Lap 4. Benjamin once again wasn't content to finishing last again, knocking Rush back to last on Lap 5, who would trail for another two laps before knocking Dent back to last for the first time on Lap 7. Carol would trail for the next three laps before knocking Lucas Oil last-place finisher the #36 O'Reilly Toyota of Derrick Edison into the final spot on Lap 11. Edison would struggle around the half mile track to try and stay in the draft, but the final two laps he finally had worked back up and just after the white flag, he would pass Dent in Turn 1 and would hold her off the final half mile to prevent finishing last for the second time in  four races, while Carol got her first of her career.

The remaining Bottom Five were: 27th was the aforementioned #97 of Joshua Rush, 26th was the #72 of Ryan Benjamin and 25th was the #66 Lincoln Welders / Bojangles' Dodge of Daryl Lee.
