Jimmy Potter picked up the 1st last place finish of his SCRL Sun Energy Whelen Euro Elite 2 career in last Friday's Round 9 at the Red Bull Ring when his #27 Whelen Chevrolet completed all 9 laps under power.
The finish came in his 9th career start. In the SCRL Sun Energy Whelen Euro Elite 2, it's the 1st for car #27 and the 5th for running at the finish. Across all the series in the SCRL, it's the 2nd for the #27 and the 142nd for running at the finish.
Entering the first ever Whelen Euro Elite 2 Series, Potter had already proven he had talent, scoring his first career win in Season 1 of the SCRL ARCA Truck Series at Gateway but had gone winless for over a year. Potter's season started off on a high note as he finished 3rd in the first ever race at Monza and in the very next race, he picked up career win #2 at Brands Hatch. A 10th at Spa and Hungaroring, a 5th at Hockenheimring, 4th at Sebring, 5th at Yas Marina and a 6th in the last round at Catalunya.
The entry list for the 9th race of the season grew to 17 as a brand new driver debuted, Chakat Lightingblaze, who became the fourth ever "chakat" to complete in the SCRL. On race day, Potter rolled off starting in the final spot, but by the time the first lap was completed, Yas Marina last-place finisher the #54 Maabadot Chevrolet of Draco Drakul had fallen back to last and trailed the field and struggled to gained any spots as the laps ticked by and just after the white flag, Draco finally made his move, knocking Potter back to last by the fifth turn and Potter ran out of time, scoring his third career last-place finish.
The remaining Bottom Five were; 16th the #54 of Draco Drakul, 15th was #31 of Mikail Kose, 14th was the #46 Motorvision.tv Chevrolet of Derryl Immel and 13th was the #9 SCM Medical Ford of Ace Horsebutt.
