Sebastian Cucalon picked up the 1st last place finish of his SCRL Lucas Oil ARCA Racing Series career in the Wednesday's Pocono ARCA 200 at the Pocono Raceway when his #19 Battomi-Lawton Insurance Dodge fell out with header problems without completing any of the 22 laps.
The finish came in his 8th start. In the SCRL Lucas Oil ARCA Racing Series, it's the 1st for car #19 and the 4th for header issues. Across all the series in the SCRL, it's the 11th for the #19 and the 20th for camshaft issues.
Entering Season 3 of the SCRL Lucas Oil ARCA Racing Series, Cucalon was entering only his second ever full time season, having previously competed in the SCRL Formula 3 division, the sight of his lone last-place finish to date at Monza, in a season where he would score a best finish of 2nd at Hockenheimring and would finish 11th in the overall point standings. Traveling back across the Atlantic Ocean, Cucalon would sign up to compete in his first ever stock car series in the SCRL's ARCA division in a hopes of gaining more experience and possibly that first career win. In his ARCA debut, Cucalon would once again impress, finishing 3rd in his first start at the historic Daytona International Speedeway. A poor finish of 28th at Atlanta in the next round would lead to Cucalon rebounding with a 4th at Nashville, struggling to a 39th at Salem before scoring two back-to-back Top 10 finishes, a 5th at Talladega and a 6th at Charlotte before finishing 35th in the last round at Gateway.
In qualifying, Tim Randolph scored his first career series pole with a time of 49.689 seconds with Cucalon posting a time of 50.606 seconds, 0.917 behind Randolph's pole run, placing Cucalon 17th on the grid while starting last was the #0 unsponsored Wayne Peterson Racing Chevrolet of Brock Beard.
Just seconds after the field rolled off pit road, a few rain drops would drove on the track, preventing the race from starting for at least one lap. As the field entered Turn 3 to get the one to go signal, Cucalon's car started to smoke as he pulled to the inside of the track to try and get onto pit road, but he had missed the entrance. Cucalon's car slowed as he entered Turn 1 becoming stalls on the apron. Despite the car sitting on the track, the officials did not postpone the start of the race as Cucalon's car was quickly towed off the track and back to the garage
With Cucalon's car behind the wall, the field would be given the green flag, but it wasn't long before chaos broke out as the unsponsored #43 David Levine Racing Dodge of Pria McShane would be spun out in Turn 1 after contact from points leader the #52 Federated Auto Parts Chevrolet of Blaise Zebrataur and would slide up the track and back into the outside wall, causing severe right side and rear damage to her car. McShane would coast back to the pits and then behind the wall, her day done after completing one lap, but would not take the final spot as Cucalon's car would be listed as "out" on Lap 3.
It would take another nine laps before The remaining Bottom Five would be filled up by the event's three caution of the day, which would be the event's first "Big One"; 38th was the #97 Union Bank / Roadrunner the Movie Dodge of Ricky Logan, 37th was the #48 Radon.com Ford of Brian Fox and 36th was the #44 Ansell / Menards Toyota of Riley Spurlytube, all being scored having completed 10 laps.
