LEGENDS: Race long battle for last place ends after early wreck at Bristol gives Trevor Collins the second last-place finish of his career

Trevor Collins picked up the 1st place finish of his SCRL NASCAR Legends Series career in the Season 4 Volunteer 500 at the Bristol International Speedway when his #68 Auto Specialists / Auto Lad Ford involved in a multi-car crash after 12 of the 50 laps.

The finish came in his 16th start. In the SCRL NASCAR Legends Series, it's the 1st for car #68 and the 22nd from a crash. Across all the series in the SCRL, it's the 2nd for the #68 and the 220th from a crash.

Entering Season 4 of the Legends Series, Collins had already proven himself to be a proven winner, having scored two career wins in the SCRL Snap-On Tools Whelen Southern Series and finished 7th in points. Collins would finish 30th in his debut at the twisting road course at Riverside and would struggle for the next seven races with only a best finish of 31st at Ontario before finishing a series best 4th at North Wilkesboro. Collins would continue his streak by scoring a 9th at Darlington, a 10th at Charlotte, a 15th at Martinsville before scoring back-to-back 16th place finishes at Michigan and Riverside. In the next round at Greenville-Pickens, Collins would score his third career SCRL sanctioned win and in the last round at Thompson, he finished 26th.

As the field entered the 16th race of the season, the entry list was one car short as Ontario race winner the #43 Plymouth By Petty Plymouth of Oreius Centaur decided to not compete at the half mile at Bristol, much like the team had decided to do earlier in the season, and would focus their attention to Oreius's home track at Atlanta in the next round.

On race day, Collins rolled off starting in 31st while starting last was Charlotte last-place finisher the #10 unsponsored Ford of Sammy Sabre Jr. a spot that Sabre would hold for only one turn as he knocked the #18 unsponsored Plymouth Cassie Dent into the final spot and would trail for the first lap. Dent's stay would only last one lap before she passed the #34 unsponsored Ford of Al Lagasee for the final spot. Lagasse would also stay in last for only one lap as he knocked Martinsville last-place finisher the #75 Kentucky Fried Chicken Special Plymouth of Dilan Ebrahimian into the final spot, but one lap later Ebrahimian would knock the #64 Woodfield Ford of Josh Nixey into the final spot.

The constant battle for last would appear to be happening every lap as Nixey would knock the #36 Coca-Cola Dodge of Eddie Wycombe into the final spot on Lap 5. Wycombe would get a run down the backstretch and knocked the #06 Warren Fox Dodge of Ty Dent into last on Lap 6, Dent would then pass the #17 Purolator Ford of AJ Jones for the final spot. Jones would remain in last for one lap as well, knocking the #22 unsponsored Dodge of Sebastian Torres into the final spot on Lap 8. The next lap, Torres would pass the #70 unsponsored Ford of Brock Beard into the final spot, a position that Beard would hold for two laps until the battle for last quickly ended on Lap 12.

While running in 33rd spot, Collins was running the high side trying to pass Al Lagasse, when he misjudged the turn and slammed hard into the guardrail at just the wrong angle where it joined into a concrete wall, sending Collins into the air, landing on top of the #71 K & K Insurance Dodge of Sylas Nixey and the #17 of AJ Jones, completely destroying those two cars, before landing back on the track in front of Torres, who also slammed into Collins's upside down car. Torres, Jones and Nixey would all limp back to the garage done for the day, while Collins had to climb from his car and walked to the infield care center, he was alright, but due to his car being left on the track, he was given the final spot.

Rounding out the Bottom Five in 37th was the #16 unsponsored Chevrolet of Dale Jones, who suffered camshaft issues just before the race went back to racing, pulling into the garage after completing 15 laps.

Nixey would remain in the final spot for only one lap before he passed Tellez the very next lap, before swapping last again as Nixey fell back to last for the second time on Lap 5. Nixey would remain in last for the next three laps when Greenville-Pickens last-place finisher the #13 unsponsored Chevrolet of Leroy Jones made contact with the #21 60 Minute Cleaners Mercury Cyclone of Bryan McKayson, sending Jones for a spin in Turn 1, and falling to the final spot.

Jones would suffer some damage after being hit by Richmond last-place finisher the #98 Jim Robbins Co. Ford of Chris Kyle and was forced to pit during the caution to repair the damage. When the green flag came back out, Jones trailed the field and struggled to keep up and appeared to become the first driver to finish last twice in Season 4. With five laps to go, Sampson, who had worked his way up to the 35th spot, began to slow coming off Turn 2 and quickly pulled to the apron and then onto pit road, as the driver was reporting a flat left front tire. While the team was able to put on only left side tires, Sampson had fallen a lap down, getting back out on track and unable to gain any spots over the final four laps, was the lone driver to not finish on the lead lap.

LEGENDS: Late spin at Riverside gives Derrick Edison the fourth last-place finish of his career

Derrick Edison picked up the 1st last place finish of his SCRL NASCAR Legends Series career in the Season 4 Riverside 400 at the Riverside International Raceway when his #32 Bestline Products Plymouth completed all 15 laps under power.

The finish came in his 13th start. In the SCRL NASCAR Legends Series, it's the 4th for car #32 and the 41st where the car was still running. Across all the series in the SCRL, it's the 12th for the #32 and the 195th where the car was still running.

Edison had never competed in a Legends Series race before the start of Season 4, but he was a veteran, having competed for several years and while he hadn't yet become a household name, he had visited victory lane once in his career; in the Season 2 Lund Look 225 at Heartland Park Topeka. Using his past experience on road courses, Edison finished an impressive 4th in his first start at Riverside but the team would struggle the next three races with finishes of 41st at Ontario, 34th at Richmond and a 28th at Rockingham. A decent 15th at Atlanta would follow before scoring his second best finish of the season, a 9th at Bristol. After a disappointing 39th at Talladega, Edison would rebound with a series best 3rd at North Wilkesboro. After struggling to finish 31st at Darlington and 32nd at Charlotte, a finish of 13th at Martinsville before finishing 26th in the last round at Michigan.

Carter Friesen stalls at the start of the race.
On race day, Edison rolled off starting in 37th while starting last was Martinsville last-place finisher the #75 Kentucky Fried Chicken Special Plymouth of Dilan Ebrahimian but just after the command was given to start, North Wilkesboro's last-place finisher the #31 unsponsored Dodge of Carter Frisen stalled just shortly before Turn 9 due to a flat tire as the field took the green. Friesen's crew was able to replace all four tires and sent their driver back out onto the track just seconds before the race leaders. Had no caution come out, Frisen would become the first driver to finish last twice in Season 4. On Lap 10 the lone caution would come out when the #5 unsponsored Dodge of Logan Bueckert and the #19 unsponsored Ford of Christian Russel spun out in Turn 3, at this same time the #59 Pepsi Ford of Carter Joey had visited pit road for a flat tire.

Joey would remain in last under the caution period and when the green came back out once again he trailed the field for the first two turns when once again contact would happen as Edison made contact with Carter, spinning Edison and Carter out right in front of the field. Everyone was able to avoid Edison and Joey's spun cars as Joey quickly put his car in gear and would rebound quickly to finish 37th, while Edison struggled to regain control and was trailing the field for the last four laps, having fallen twenty seconds behind the race leaders.

The rounding out the Bottom Five was: 41st the #17 Purolator Ford of AJ Jones, 40th the #18 unsponsored Plymouth Cassie Dent, 39th was the #40 7-Up Plymouth of Brian Fox and 38th was Richmond last-place finisher the #98 Jim Robbins Co. Ford of Chris Kyle.

LEGENDS: "Big One" strikes early at Michigan as Ryan Rush is scored last just feet before AJ Jones

Ryan Rush picked up the 1st last place finish of his SCRL NASCAR Legends Series career in the Season 4 Motor State 400 at the Michigan International Speedway when his #97 Long-Lewis Ford was involved in a multi-car crash after 2 of 20 laps.

The finish came in his 12th start. In the SCRL NASCAR Legends Series, it's the 1st for car #97 and the 19th from a crash. Across all the series in the SCRL, it's the 1st for the #97 and the 217th from a crash.

Rush signed up to compete for the first time ever in the Legends Series and while he had never completed a lap in the series, Rush was no stranger to the SCRL. Having completed in multiple series over the past few years, Rush has struggled to make a name for himself, having picked up only one career win, that coming in the Season 1 SCRL CatDog Pro Series East division at New Jersey Motorsports Park. With his lone win coming on a road course Rush was excited to see the Riverside event start off the season, but the team struggled to a 25th place finish. A 6th at Ontario would be the best finish of the season as the team would struggle for the next eight races with a best finish of 16th at Bristol before scoring the second best finish of the season, a 8th at Martinsville in the last round.

On race day, Rush rolled off starting in 20th while starting last was the #28 Piper Trash Can Liners Dodge of Jack Lagasee, a spot that Lagasee would hold for only two turns when he knocked the #6 unsponsored Dodge of Adam McDowell into the final spot when McDowell's car suffered a flat tire. McDowell would make it to pit road and the team was putting tires on the car when chaos broke out on the backstretch. The #59 Pepsi Ford of Carter Joey made a four wide move in Turn 2 but ran out of room as he made contact with Richmond last-place finisher the #98 Jim Robbins Co. Ford of Chris Kyle and sent him into the #3 Moss-Thornton Dodge of Cam Nixey, causing what would be the race's biggest wreck of the day.

Rush would be spun out coming out of Turn 2 by the #12 Coca-Cola Dodge of Samet Ozkan and sending him right across the track, blocking the field and causing the wreck. Rush would have minor damage and started rolling again before he ran into the drivers door of the #32 Bestline Products Plymouth of Derrick Edison with such force that the entire front end of Rush's vehicle flew off the car and over the outside fence, and into the small field behind the track. As Rush's car rested on the backstretch, just feet ahead was the #17 Purolator Ford of AJ Jones, who had been the first car to hit Rush as he spun nearly five times and hit in the drivers door, the car coming to rest just ahead of Rush. While both cars were towed back to the garage and scored with only completing two laps, Rush was given the final spot by virtue where his car had stopped on track.

The remaining Bottom Five wouldn't be decided until the 13th lap when yet another "Big One" struck when leaders the #13 unsponsored Chevrolet of Leroy Jones and Atlanta last-place finisher the #25 unsponsored Plymouth of TJ Dent got together causing a fifteen car pileup, when the dust was settled, the backstretch was a junkyard as eight of the fifteen would be done for the day; 40th was the #16 unsponsored Chevrolet of Dale Jones, 39th was the #29 unsponsored Chevrolet of Marko Tellez and 38th was the #4 Mills Plumbing Dodge of Mitchell Collins.

Nixey would only trail the final spot for one lap when he knocked Talladega last-place finisher the #27 unsponsored Ford of Cole Nixey into the final spot, a position he would hold for less then half a lap when chaos broke out in Turns 3 and 4 that would end the battle for last.

While battling for 23rd, Darlington last-place finisher the #43 Plymouth By Petty Plymouth of Oreius Centaur made contact with the #3 Moss-Thornton Dodge, sending Oreius for a spin right in front of the path of the the #12 Coca-Cola Dodge of Samet Ozkan, causing a chain reaction as ten cars would be involved. Ebrahimian would be one of those cars, slamming hard into the back of the #32 Bestline Products Plymouth of Derrick Edison while Ebrahimian was also hit from behind by the #04 unsponsored Dodge of Chakat Whitelion, completing destorying Ebrahiman's car as he pulled into the garage his day done, while two laps later Bristol last-place finisher the #09 unsponsored Chevrolet of Paul Hogan, who had hit Oreius and destroyed his front end, pulled into the garage just before the race went back to green, being scored having completed 6 laps.

Entering his final season, Oreius has picked up 17 career wins, 10 of which came in this very series. In his first race of the season, Oreius finished 26th at Riverside, before picking up career win #18 at Ontario in the very next round. A 31st at Richmond, a 32nd at Rockingham and a 25th at his hometown track in Atlanta forced Petty Enterprises to skip the short track event at Bristol and focus their resources at the 2.660 mile superspeedway, where he finished 25. In the last round at North Wilkesboro, a track where Oreius has four career wins, he started from the pole and led 11 laps before finishing second to Cole Nixey, who scored his first ever Legends Series event.

On race day, Oreius rolled off starting in 23rd while starting last was the #75 Kentucky Fried Chicken Special Plymouth of Dilan Ebrahimian a spot that Ebrahimian would hold for the first lap before he would knock the #97 Long-Lewis Ford of Ryan Rush into the final spot on Lap 2. Rush would keep last for two laps when he knocked the #13 unsponsored Chevrolet of Leroy Jones into the last spot. Jones would be in last for only a lap when he passed Atlanta last-place finisher the #25 unsponsored Plymouth of TJ Dent into the final spot. Dent would remain in last for a lap as well when he passed Jones back, a spot Jones would hold when the first caution would come out that ended the battle for last.

While battling for 8th, the #17 Purolator Ford of AJ Jones made contact with the #04 unsponsored Dodge of Chakat Whitelion, spinning Whitelion out right in front of Bristol last-place finisher the #09 unsponsored Chevrolet of Paul Hogan, as due to the tight turns, there wasn't anywhere drivers could go as ten cars would stack up in Turns 3 and 4, with Oreius hitting Hogan head on while Oreius was then hit from behind by both the #59 Pepsi Ford of Carter Joey and then by the #4 Mills Plumbing Dodge of Mitchell Collins. Oreius wouldn't drive back to pit road or the garage like several others drivers were, as his car sat in Turn 3 before it would be towed back, as the car was listed as "out" by the 10th circuit.

The remaining Bottom Five was filled by the 9th Lap by drivers also involved in the same crash, but all would be scored completing 8 laps; 41st was the #09 of Paul Hogan, 40th was the #99 Dow Chemicals Dodge of Joshua Rush, 39th was the #12 Coca-Cola Dodge of Samet Ozkan and finishing 38th was the #11 Don Wagner Ford Sales Ford of Muhammad Zain Abdullah.

Carter Friesen picked up the 1st last place finish of his SCRL NASCAR Legends Series career in the Season 4 North Wilkesboro 400 at the North Wilkesboro Speedway when his #31 unsponsored Dodge was involved in a multi-car crash after 5 of the 40 laps.

In his first ever Legends race, Frisen finished a disappointing 40th on the twisting road course at Riverside. A 21st at Ontario and a 27th at Richmond would continue to make his season struggle, but a 3rd place at Richmond boosted the team's spirits as they finished 12th at Atlanta, 4th at Bristol and in the last round they survived a late race crash to finish 6th at Talladega.

On race day, Friesen rolled off starting in 28th while starting last was the #71 K & K Insurance Dodge of Sylas Nixey but Nixey's stay in the final spot lasted only two turns as he knocked the #21 60 Minute Cleaners Mercury Cyclone of Bryan McKayson into last while going down the backstretch. McKayson's Cyclone would struggle to keep up as he was about a second behind the car in front of him when the battle for last ended when chaos broke out on the frontstretch. Frisen was able to limp around and pulled into the garage, his day done, while Nixey limped around to complete one more lap before also pulling in.

As drivers entered Turn 2, Beard made contact with the #75 Kentucky Fried Chicken Special Plymouth of Dilan Ebrahimian, starting a ten car pileup in Turn 2 and down the backstretch. Nixey was stuck on the high side and had nowhere to go as Ebrahimian's car slid up the track and right in front of the #27 car as Nixey's front end was crushed. While Nixey was able to limp back around to pit road, his crew didn't even try to attempt to repair the car as the radiator had been damaged and their car was done for the day.

Nixey returned for Season 4 driving for the same team that had won him the championship and was determined to become the first ever back-to-back champion.
