LEGENDS: Early wreck keeps Paul Hogan trapped two laps down at Bristol; Chakat Whitelion becomes the all time winningest driver in SCRL history

Paul Hogan picked up the 1st last place finish of his SCRL NASCAR Legends Series career in the Season 4 Southeastern 500 at the Bristol International Speedway when his #09 unsponsored Chevrolet completed 48 of the 50 laps under power.

The finish came in his 6th start. In the SCRL NASCAR Legends Series, it's the 1st for car #09 and the 39th for running at the finish. Across all the series in the SCRL, it's the 5th for the #09 and the 193rd for running at the finish.

Hogan signed on to compete in one of his first series he had ever competed in, joining the longest active series the SCRL produces. Hogan's Legends career started with a 10th place finish in his debut at Riverside, in the next round he led his first ever lap before finishing 3rd at Ontario. Hogan and his team would struggle at Richmond, finishing 41st, before rebounding with a 7th at Rockingham and in the last round at Atlanta, Hogan would struggle again, limping home to a 33rd place finish after being involved in the second caution of the day.

As the field entered the 6th race of the season, the entry list was one car short as Ontario race winner the #43 Plymouth By Petty Plymouth of Oreius Centaur decided to not compete at the half mile at Bristol as the team decided to focus their attention to the bigger race at Talladega a couple days later.

On race day, Hogan rolled off starting in 14th while starting last was the #36 Coca-Cola Dodge of Eddie Wycombe but by the end of the first lap the #40 7-Up Plymouth of Brian Fox would drop back into the final spot before he would pass the #68 Auto Specialists / Auto Lad Ford of Trevor Collins. Collins would trail the field for the next six laps when the battle for last ended on Lap 9. Hogan was battling for a Top ten spot then contact between himself and the #21 60 Minute Cleaners Mercury Cyclone of Bryan McKayson sent both cars up the track right in front of Ontario last-place finisher the #8 unsponsored Ford of Zachary Fitzwater. Hogan's car was the most severely damaged and limped back around to the pits, the crew tried to repair it as much as possible, but nothing could be down. Hogan would be forced to limp around the track trying to stay out of other drivers way, and due to no one else dropping out of the race, Hogan was the only car to be two laps down when the checkered flag was flown.

Rounding out the Bottom Five were drivers who were all a lap behind the race leaders: 40th was the unsponsored Ford of Brock Beard, 39th was the aforementioned #36 of Eddie Wycombe, 38th was the #10 unsponsored Ford of Sammy Sabre Jr. and 37th was the #17 Purolator Ford of AJ Jones.

Taking the checkered flag was Chakat Whitelion, who took the checkered flag for the 28th time in hir career, breaking a tie with Truttle, to become the all time winningest driver in SCRL history.
